No. It is just part of Your Government’s TERROR! campaign.
Tlbd – Turnbull is totally see-through on industrial matters.
He wants
– Strong regulation of unions on building sites by the ABCC on the basis that they add to construction costs but shows no interest in the number of workers killed or maimed on construction sites due to lack of adherence to safety requirements; and
– Aggressive regulation of registered organisations by a new regulator rather than add this function to ASIC (quite obviously he wouldn’t want the aggressive registered organisation investigators to ‘infect’ the rest of ASIC’).
I will be SO glad when this damned presidential election is over. I’m bored witless by the constant talk of polling and whatever.
I can’t vote, so I really can’t get interested. The Yanks will do whatever they do and I can’t do anything to change that so why am I supposed to be fascinated by the whole rotten mess.
I don’t like either Trump or Clinton. No matter which one is finally elected the world will suffer. I’m at a bit of a loss to decide which one would be the lesser of two evils.
Why The Age felt the need to pontificate about the candidates in an editorial is beyond my understanding. Totally pointless.
I do agree with you. They talk about the Yanks so they wouldn’t have to examine the flaws in our current govt. I would prefer Clinton as I absolutely abhor Trump. JG seems to see something good in Hillary. I have little faith in her myself, judging by some articles.
Thank you so much, Leonoetwo. My views on the Age editorial are very similar to yours. I’m surprised how much the MSM has paid attention to this US election. I’ve been surprised by how much attention it has attracted here. Never mind. Tidak-Apah. We are not as yet the 51st State of the Union..
I doubt that the ‘Orange Person’, will be elected (the Baghwan Donald). And my views,as in so many things, don’t matter. I’m not a Yank. And,I seriously doubt that swinging voters from Frost-Bite Falls, Minnessotta (the home of Rocky and Bullwinkle), or Gennemdown Az, read this bog or the Melbourne Age .
Thank Christ we have compulsory voting here.
A very pretty butterfly. (Island Marble Butterfly):
Gigilene is right.
Our media are ignoring the chaos and corruption in our own government while they deluge us with pointless chatter about the US election.
So much is slipping under the radar or getting only cursory mentions while this distraction is going on.
My second eldest daughter has just finished her final exam for a Degree in Sonography down in SA Pub Chapter country at the University of SA in Adelaide.
It has an extremely high pass mark but she is reasonably confident that she has passed ok. It is understandable that it should be high because patients lives may often depend on an accurate scan & diagnosis.
With her previous Science Degree majoring in Antonymy & Micro-Biology and her First class Honours degree in science, she should be well equipped as a competent Sonographer. There are very few jobs available for female Scientists now.
Her last job was just a temporary position for 12 months as a Scientist in the Pathology Lab at the local District Hospital so she applied for a trainee-ship style Degree in Sonography in the expectation of ongoing employment in that field.
We are very proud of her as we are with our other three children.
Abbott & Turnbull have a lot to answer for with the Australian People with their shameful attitude to science & the continuing benefits to Australians from the brilliant science community that are receiving disgraceful treatment at the hands of these grubs.
She’s doing very well. Bravo!
Congratulations to your daughter, and to you and Mrs Scorpio as well.
As you would be Scorpes – Big congratulations. I do hope that she obtains a permanent position.

I found this on my facebook page & thought it might gain a chuckle or two!
[ A LETTER FROM A 69yr OLD FEMALE TO AN AGONY AUNT:
Dear Deidre,
My husband is a liar and a cheat. He has cheated on me from the beginning and when I confront him, he denies everything. What’s worse, everyone knows he cheats on me. It’s so humiliating.
Also, since he lost his job 14 years ago, he hasn’t even looked for a new one. All he does all day is smoke cigars, cruise around, shoot pool with his buddies and have sex with hookers, while I work so hard to pay our bills.
Since our daughter went away to college and then married, he doesn’t even pretend to like me, and hints that I may be a lesbian. Please help. What should I do?
Confused…..
Dear Confused,
Grow up and dump him.You don’t need him anymore. For fuck sake woman, you’re running for President of the United States, get a grip!:) ]
Amazing what a bit of ridicule can do.
Mad Mal has tried – and failed – to fix his Facebook announcement..
He finally got it right a few minutes ago – he reduced it to just two ‘Hansons’.
that is a good one.
By the way, thanks for the good wishes towards my daughter. She is smart, beautiful and works very hard.
We hope she has a great future. She certainly deserves it after 7 years of grinding study of some of the hardest subjects available!
Micro-Biology is the hardest one there is according to Wikipedia.

Not exactly unexpected:

Scorps – On medical Imaging.
I have an ultrasound twice a year and in the last 12 months have also been cat scanned, x-ray’d and put through a Hadron Collider (actually a MRI – a most uncomfortable 50 minute exercise).
It seems that this stuff is woman’s business these days as all the operators were women.
On ultra scans I’ve noticed that a bit of patience is required by the operator. That’s probably why men are left to be in the scanned group rather than the scanning group.
Global warming? Meh:
Maybe not global warming. The weather in this part of NSW yesterday was perfect – for bushfires. Very high temperatures, very low humidity, very strong westerly/south westerly winds blowing in warm air and we see the result.
It’s not unusual to get this sort of perfect fire weather in late spring/early summer here.

Scorps also mentioned microbiology. That is a field I have in my career found to be “secret women’s business” .. Microbiologist = Chapess..

So what does a chap without a spine do now?
Was out in the “deep Mallee” yesterday looking at those charcoal pits my relatives worked at as enemy aliens during the 2nd,WW..was walking between sites when we came across this wrack and ruin of trees ripped apart by what must have been one hell of a wurlie-wurlie…a little while later, at another place there, we heard a wild thrashing amongst the trees a way away which sounded like some strange sort of monster approaching!..no kidding, you couldn’t see anything for the density of the trees, but you could hear this roaring and crashing as it approached…there was no wind about, but as it got closer you could make out th sound as the thrashing of tree limbs in a wild stormy wind!…Quite scary in it’s unknown quantity..but it then turned and the noise went in a different direction..I could imagine such a thing being quite a moment in another age of superstition and fantasy..

Below is a pic of some of that damage we came across..there was much more..you can see them on my Facebook page..
Help!

Lord Almighty! What have we done to deserve these nutters in the Senate?
We let Murdoch take over our government and our public broadcaster.
From Eric Knight’s book of tales..”All Yankees are liars”…an example of the perfect intellectual standard for Sen’ Roberts..:
“…”Well, yes. New England is a part of the United States,” Mr. Smith said. “But it’s thousands of miles away from where I live. In fact, believe it or not, I should think you’re closer to the Yankees than I am. You see, the United States is a big country. In the part where the Yankees come from, it gets very cold in the winter. Where I am—in Southern California—it never snows. Why, I’ve never known it to snow there in all my life.”
“No snow?” Gollicker breathed.
Mr. Smith smiled. For, after all, he was a Southern Californian—and they were discussing climate. “No snow,” he said. “In wintertime we have a bit of a rainy season, but after February it clears, and then it doesn’t even rain for nine months—not a drop.”
“Noa rain for a nine month—noan at all?” Saw Cooper asked.
“Not a drop. Day after day, the sun comes out, clear skies, never a drop of rain for nine months. Never!”
“Whet do ye graw theer, lad?” Saw asked, slyly.
“Lots of things. Truck, vegetables, oranges—all kinds of things.”
There was a silence again. Big Ian took a breath. “Orinjis,” he said, and then took another breath, “graw i’ Spain.”
He looked at Mr. Smith so emphatically that Mr. Smith nodded.
“Oh, yes,” he said. “They grow in Spain, too, I understand.”
“Orinjis,” Ian repeated, “graw i’ Spain.”
That seemed to settle the question. They all looked in the fire in silence. Saw Cooper sniffed…”

The so-called Rutherglen switcheroo is derived from temp’ figures gathered in some areas before there was a uniform method of temp’ recording..ie; when some farmers and amateur recorders were taking readings from thermometers housed in all sorts of containers and locations and therefore corrupted by those situations..
Hopeless.
“Sheesh!” was my reaction when I saw the first few comments. Then I ran away.
There’s only so much stupid I can take.
I do suspect the comments were arranged by One Nation though. t’s easy to get a few supporters to deluge an online article with comments. I’d love to be able to track those who commented.

Perhaps Rupert Murdoch ought to be made ; “Father of the Nation”..after all,so much of the MSM and the right-wing political mainstream shelter under his “roof”. Heavens knows what they will do once he passes away..become “homeless” one would presume.
Now THERE would be a legitimate example of the “deserving poor”.
