“Steady, Eth ” . . .

(Image Credit: BBC: Take It From Here – The Glums)

So many Captain’s Nose Picks bleeding – haemorrhaging even – in such a short time:

The Elder Bishop and her sudden relegation to cattle class

Marriage Equality over abbott’s decaying corpse (okay, that may alter come Wednesday – but I suspect too little too late)

Dyson Heydon and cognitive ease (failing to be cognizant of bias when it’s in your comfort zone)

A brand-new Speaker who wasn’t Captain Nose-Pick’s choice – much to Captain Nose-Pick’s wattle-wobbling fury

That brave whistle-blower, Kathy Jackson, and the missing $million plus (“Whaddaya mean, that $1.4mill was supposed to go to the *sharply indrawn breath* plebs?”)

The ABC will be Killing Bill next Monday (Typical lefty ABC – too little too late)

Not to mention ongoing security warnings about DEF KULTS in front of a gazillion or three Union Jacks Australian flags (Who the hell do these uppity colonials think they are, pretending to have their own flag?)

Oh, and who let the cat out of the bag about that thoroughly dee bloke Heydon being on the selection panel to choose the only possible candidate for the Rhodes Scholarship? Heads will roll.

* * * * * * *

Oops, someone seems to have gatecrashed the séance through the Ouija board’s back gate. Sorry about that . . .

I keep telling myself to calm down; it’s too early to order nonstop popcorn; almost anything could happen – but we might, just possibly might be on the cusp of viewing the Great Unhingement.

Or not.

Whateves.

Sit back, folks (fasten your seatbelts – it could well be rough) and enjoy.

(Though I still and really want him to stay until we hear those words that will be ripped from his guts – when he finally gives his post-election concession speech . . .)

  1. It took a while, a long time, actually, but Kate McClymont finally wakes up.

What the hell was going at the HSU? Kathy Jackson exposed as a thief, liar & hypocrite of the highest order http://t.co/MGahuCLOqG via @smh— Kate McClymont (@Kate_McClymont) August 19, 2015

Thank goodness for Peter Wicks, who did the research and gave the best possible coverage of the KJ saga, received little thanks for doing it and was totally ignored by the MSM. He is writing a book about it, it should be a corker.

  2. CTar,

    Was it Nikita Khrushchev

Just arrived home, and saw your question. I think Leonid Brezhnev is more likely.

  3. And I thought Heydon was trying to identify union corruption.

Couldn’t see what was staring him in the face: Kathy Jackson.

    Incompetent or corrupt?

  4. Sorry to hear that TAFE is being choked and puffy can’t complete her certificates. I hadn’t realise that Cert 2 wasn’t enough modules to get a meaningful qualification or that each subject was $1500

TAFE teachers in Victoria used to be paid $60 per hour class contact

OK for the primary trained teachers teaching English – impossible for IT teachers who have to learn a new operating system to expert level every 7 years and replace their computer every 3 years. You just can’t get enough hours if you teach 4 hour class with 1 hour on Monday 1 hour on Tuesday and 2 hours on Thursday to live – it was about the same income as Newstart with no money in term breaks

I know one woman who writes curriculum and teaches, she works 45 hour weeks writing modules and earns a modest income – half a graduate teacher salary, I believe

  5. There are no private training providers out there with the range and size of machinery for the stuff I want to do. TAFE is all there is around here. A lot of people of modest or minimal means are going to do a intro course like I did, and then find they cannot go any further. If you work full-time you might have the money to pay the fees but not the time do the study.

  6. I didn’t notice either Malcolm Turnbull or Christopher Pyne in Question time- sent to the ‘naughty corner’ , absent without leave? Can anyone shed any light?

  7. Waleed Aly shut down Steve Price tonight on” The Project”.

Price didn’t like Aly disclosing “in the interests of fairness” that Prices wife is Duttons chief of staff. Then Aly pulled him up on some bullshit figures Price was sprouting. Price started getting the shits Then Aly cut the interview off. Bet their are some backroom explosions going on at the ten network.

No link to vision yet but worth a look when it is available

  8. Apparently Bill knifed two pry ministers.

The NE seems to have trouble with his mother tongue.

  9. ““Abbott is very shrill.”

    Not a good day, tone?”

Not according to that scrag Lane on 7.30, who insisted Abbott was “dominant” today

  10. Good pick up by Bongo. But then such contradictions are the Tony government’s SOP

Paul Bongiorno ‏@PaulBongiorno 9m9 minutes ago Canberra, Australian Capital Territory

So @Barnaby_Joyce supports Adani jobs but not Shenwa jobs in his own electorate.

  11. *falls off chair laughing*

I’ve just clicked that link Leone2 provided to the Price/Aly video only to have to run through all the browsers on my computer and be told on all of them (including Internet Explorer) that

“This video is not available in this geography at this time.”

Could be that WA hasn’t had that particular episode of The Project broadcast yet, but …. *sniggers* I do find it amusing though *broad grins*

  12. Calling SC DH “responsible” is just, well, irresponsible

But by the day’s end it confirmed it would try to repeal all of section 487 of the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act – contrary to an answer given by the responsible minister, attorney general George Brandis, just hours earlier, and contrary to confidential speaking notes mailed to all MPs that morning.

  13. Wouldn’t surprise me

In his new book The War on Journalism: Media Moguls, Whistleblowers and the Price of Freedom, ex-ABC journalist Andrew Fowler drops a bombshell. Fowler claims the late media mogul Kerry Packer hired a top private investigator to hack the telephone of the former Labor prime minister Paul Keating. The context was the period leading up to the 1996 election and Keating had just knocked back Packer’s Optus-Telstra duopoly plan. Packer was furious and he “let loose the dogs of war against Keating”.

  14. Re the Project.
I never understood why a program clearly aiming at a younger audience invites someone like Steve Price on so regularly?
Apart from defending the Libs or criticising the ALP what does he actually contribute to that show?

  15. Stony Habbott,

One possibility – he may not charge anything – and Ten is in fairly dire financial straits.

So, a “win-win” – Ten gets something for nothing, Little Stevie gets the chance of expanding his fan base (as if).

  16. Could Bongo be on to something ?

Paul Bongiorno ‏@PaulBongiorno 1m1 minute ago Canberra, Australian Capital Territory

Has the thought occurred that the govt is doing nothing as Abbott clears deck for rush to polls after Canning?

  17. Kaffeeklatscher,

    Quite possibly.

    DD, or HoR only?

My (very small sum of) money is on the latter.

http://mumble.com.au/fedelect13/wall/others/HoRminusSenCoalsitting/WA1.HTM Labor’s chances would therefore be a bit higher in Canning

  19. Why on Earth would he go HoR only?

Does he hate his backbenchers (and The Poodle) that much?

  20. Ducky,

A DD won’t make the Senate any more “manageable”. If anything, it will make it worse.

And yes, right at this moment I wouldn’t mind betting he hates his party even more than he hates the opposition.

    Familiarity and all that.

  21. “Has the thought occurred that the govt is doing nothing as Abbott clears deck for rush to polls after Canning?”

It’s been doing nothing useful for two years. SNAFU.
