slider-support-the-refuge-1

The Question is which one? National, International eg. wwf, rspca. Or a local smaller one.

Personally I will vote for a local one but completely up to you good people.

Now cheer up folks. Things are looking a bit grim with the idiot and some are feeling a bit down.

This_is_too_much_gifBut remember things change and we will survive along with the rest of the country.

So enjoy the night and have a good time.

My ball invitation was misplaced, my hat (all smooth) had been replaced,
My hair was nice, my shoes were shiny, I put on a voice all nasal-whiny,
I knocked, I called, I rang the bell – but Joe saw me and said ‘Go to hell’.

‘Where’s your invite? Go away, I’ll call the feds if you try to stay’ – I begged and pleaded to be let in, I wanted to be near those absolved of all sin, with rubbery morals, or exorbitant price, a snout in the trough would be so nice…

‘Your stupid hat what does it mean? Are you trying to be obscene?’
‘No’ I said ‘It’s for protection, to avoid bad juju and right wing projections’,
‘Well it didn’t work, look for yourself, the guests here tonight are all full of themselves’

I gained a glimpse of those within, the music was a cacophonic din; class war was raging in the halls, the men in attendance had no balls; the women were all trussed up to sell, attracted by the money smell. I looked on with longing and wanted to ‘fit’, but they were having none of it.

‘But I can try to be that way, I’ll give it a shot if you’ll let me stay – I’ll take off my hat, I’ll crumble and crush it’ … ]

  2. Part 2.

[ ‘Don’t get too smart mate, you’re starting to push it’

‘But I am ‘classy’ just like you, I can preen and strut and think ‘them’ poo’
‘Don’t be silly, you are lying’ (Joe said to me) while I was trying to convince him of my DNA, ‘It’s in me Joe’ – ‘ NO, GO AWAY!’

Rebuffed was all that I was getting – that rotten Credlin, she was let in, I tried the staff door to gain ingress, but security said they’d whip my arse…

I lurked in the grounds, I looked through the panes, saw the ‘beautiful people’ celebrating their gains – ‘No more Gonski, no more tradies, but at least we’ll have 75k babies!’ (Heehaw, heehaw, heehaw!) The scum it oozed and it did flow, not too much longer and they will go…Just like a boil that needs to be lanced, LNP poison should not have been chanced.

The ‘cream of the crop’ attended that ball, the smell of cream curdling bothered no-one at all; they schmoozed & sucked, feinted and ducked – I decided that their type could all go and get fucked.

I watched them come, I watched them go, some of them I did not know,
Some of them were ‘highly respected’ – unlike myself, who was fully rejected.
From my hidey-hole in the garden dark, I took notes on attendance – and it was stark! As left wing leaning (though I may be), trying to fake it with knobheads is just not for me, they saw through my pretence of worshipping Mammon (it was really quite hard – being so gamin). Excuse me while I take my leave, I’ve just been nabbed by the AFP.

It WAS the hat talking…. ]

[I think the current fashion of having two basins in the bathroom a bit much. ]

The next door neighbors got them done in slate recently – I suggested to him that they could both shave at the same time.

  4. Given that senate voting reform will probably be on the cards over the next few months/years I’ve been spending a bit of time calculating what the result would have been like if the current system (Single Transferable vote) had been abolished for another method of proportional representation.

The two systems I chose were the Sainte-Langue Method and the D’Hondt method.

The results under Saint-Lague (which tends to favour smaller parties) were
    ALP: 27
    LNP: 32
    Greens: 11
    Palmer: 2
    Xenophon: 2
    LDP: 1
    DLP: 1

The results under D’hondt (which usually favours larger parties) were
    ALP: 28
    LNP: 37
    Greens: 8
    Xenophon: 2
    DLP: 1

For my calculations I factored in a 5% threshold.

  5. Puffy, that recipe is very close to one I used to make about 30 years ago as a steamed pudding.

  6. Good morning Dawn Patrollers.
Private religious schools do more and more to support the argument that they should get no government support.

  7. I started reading hartcher and I won’t post the link because it is bucket-stuff, as he tries to say all the world figures who are scathing of Abbott are wrong because they didn’t parse Abbott’s words closely enough to understand what Abbott is really saying. Apparently only the great intellect of Hartcher can understand the real truth of this poor misunderstood PM Abbott.

  8. I used light brown sugar and molasses because that was in the cupboard, and it turned out a good combo. I have never heard of Muscavado sugar. I must get some.

  9. Bobwatch
While we’re being domestic, here’s a shot of Bob that I took this morning, resting on his blanky.

He’s doing it a bit tough at the moment, what with the diarrhea and all. This is in-between bouts.

  10. Awwww, such a sweet little feller.

He’s pretty crook, actually. Not life-threatening (I hope), but as usual he doesn’t have a lot of spare weight to lose. We’re enforcing a fast on him at the moment, all of us.

Cozzie doesn’t agree, of course, but HI and I last night couldn’t bring ourselves to eat any more than a slice of toast each, in sympathy I guess. Perhaps we just felt guilty as we watched Bob frantically checking his bowl every 15 seconds, just in case someone had put food in it.

The dementia doesn’t help. He essentially doesn’t know what’s causing him to feel uncomfortable. It’s not just when he’s sick. He gets stressed out whenever any bodily function calls. He doesn’t know how to handle it, so he just paces around in tight circles, freaking out. It gets more energetic just before “something” happens, and then he relaxes. You can see his legs sliding out from underneath him.His whole little body collapses and he goes to sleep for anything from half and hour to an hour. Then repeats.

The vet thinks it’s small intestine, so that means he’s getting little or no sustenance from any food we give him, so best not to even try, and at least give his system a breather.

The vet’s left some anti-biotics for him with the receptionist, and I think I’ll have to go and get them and (try to) give them to him. It looks like a straight bacterial or protozoan infection or parasitic episode. No blood or anything, yet. His little bum must be a bit sensitive right now with all the straining. He’s drinking, at least.

He was hardly ever sick up to the age of about 14, but seems to be making up for it now, in his dotage.

  11. Bushfire Bill,
I am desperately sorry for all of you and especially Bob. The fact one can’t explain to a non-human animal (or a human baby or any human who has lost the ability to understand language) what is going on is so frustrating; physical comfort and whatever medical means of alleviating the problem are all very well, but never quite enough.

  12. Fiona, it seems to be more serious than we first thought. As I said, not critical yet, but he’s a sick puppy.

  13. BB,
Lovely pic of Bob. I suppose your vet told you to re-introduce food very slowly? My vet’s instructions for such an ailment was to cook a couple of tablespoons of rice to the gluggy stage and flavour it with a dessertspoon of chicken stock and just a teaspoon of minced cooked chicken. According to my vet, the gluggy rice is a nice bland base of solids to which you can add small amounts of other food with minimal upset. This always works for Miss Witchety.

  14. If anybody ever wondered about the lockstep between the Liberal Party and News Ltd, the juxtaposition of Leone’s link to Loughnane’s newsletter, and gigilene’s to Van Onselen’s piece could not have made it clearer.

From Labor’s perspective, the good news is that trying to turn it all onto Labor and its leader will not work so well when Labor is in opposition. They’re the government now. They’re supposed to be accountable. It’s up to them to do something positive – maybe even explain just what the hell Direct Action is and how it will work.

Right approach so far, Bill. Tell ’em to get stuffed.

  15. Janice,

I’ll taker your sage advice on-board. It’s the first time Bob has had anything like this in his life, so it’s a new experience for both of us.

I’ll be speaking to the vet on the phone shortly. We’ve both agree there’s no point taking him up to see her, so I’ll just go to pick up the medicine.

  16. Yes, best wises with Bob, BB, Such a lovely dog. The hardest time with beloved pets is as they age and deteriorate. You don’t to lose them, and all you can do is give them loving attention. Arguably, that’s all they’d expect, yet you like to think you could do more. Fingers crossed – he has shown in the past he can defy the odds.

  17. A bit more on the government’s silence and secrecy.
Cash sought for FOI brief releases
Federal government departments are demanding thousands of dollars for access to their briefings to new ministers. The charges are a reversal of policy, with most departments providing briefings free under Labor.

    This might explain the silence.
