  1. That toilet on Cobourg Peninsula must have a good view if you can see passing Mongooses from it.

Cobourg Peninsula and Gurig National Park is a really special place, in 1994 we camped in Gurig. The camp ground is behind a low 2m high sand dune and between the sea and a swamp, when we arrived we noted a large half of a Turtle rotting on the shore, for size comparison think of the tub of one of those builders wheelbarrows, the Ranger said it wouldn’t be there long as a croc was just waiting for it to get suitably rotten.
After a good nights sleep we woke next morning to the smell of something very dead and rotten. During the night a LARGE croc had carried the turtle through our camp dropping rotting pieces of it right beside our tent. The footprints of this croc were about a metre apart and went from the beach through our camp to the swamp.

    • Much easier to rip bite size chunks off when it is a bit off. Also croc stomachs are not very yuuge so they have no choice but to “save some for later” for anything above small prey.

    • Oops, click on the link and it will take you to youtube, every other link is poor quality and not worth posting, enjoy.

PS I’ve stopped posting Keith Olbermann as he is going further and further into fantasy land.

  2. Yeah, it’s really sad about Keith Olbermann. But on the other hand, there’s enough rabid rightwingers out there, so at least he’s doing his bit to kind of counter-balance it, being the one out there saying that Trump is an unpatriotic traitor that needs to be forced out of the job.

  3. I had an email from change.org re the WA proposed law that says ‘No body, no parole’, I’m a bit conflicted by it as there are many cases of wrongful convictions for murder and I don’t like the idea of someone serving strict life for a crime they did not commit. Thoughts?

  4. In a speech to the Business Council of Australia on Thursday evening, Morrison said the Treasury and the Reserve Bank had found, in specific analysis of current wage fundamentals, that wages were growing slowly across most industries in the economy, and most regions of the country.

He said they were growing at their slowest annual rate in at least 20 years, but that slow growth was evenly shared.

However, he would not release the Treasury analysis.

Matt Golding and footy protest songs.

    • If they’re running an ad all about how they’re getting hurtful comments on social media, they’re more or less admitting defeat. Getting off-topic and complaining about the process is the equivalent of putting up the barricades and salvaging whatever’s left. I think we already knew when they concentrated on Safe Schools instead of marriage equality that they were stretching to find something sellable. This takes them further away from their central question, and makes it clearer that their only tactic available is to claim underdog status and appeal to us to pity them.

Massive tactical error to try to ban the Macklemore song. Why draw attention to a popular recording artist with a top-selling song about a topic the majority of the country is in sympathy with? How can you possibly hope to gain anything doing that?

    • Nonono you make marmalade from sour oranges, boil with water and sugar.

I have a bag of Seville oranges I was going to make Oxford (dark) marmalade with. think they might be past that.

    • I agree about blood oranges tho! BO marmalade with a bit of vanilla in it, heavenly! On toast or a spoonful in my oatmeal, oh yeah!

For a probably stinking hot summer with blackouts I have canned over 3L of blood orange juice. Gin and BO juice and sodawater, BO gelato etc.

  13. Turnbull minister David Gillespie faces $500k in legal bills for Labor challenge

Gillespie can afford that and more, he’s a millionaire ++.

i’ll say this again, because the media just don’t get it – Gillespie does not own a ‘small suburban shopping complex’. He owns one building in a small, neighbourhood shopping centre. His building contains two small shops downstairs and two office suites upstairs. It is a long way from being a ‘shopping complex’. Also, something else the media have not mentioned – Gillespie bought the building in 2011, while he was running for parliament for the third time after losing a by-election in 2008 and the 2010 federal election, both lost to Rob Oakeshott. The Australia Post shop was there then, and had been for years before. He knew it was there and chose to ignore the possible conflict of interest. The presence of that business may even have been an inducement to buy the property – a steady, income from a government agency with no competition in the area.

However, the High Court will probably let him off, if recent court decisions are anything to go by. The court seems to be taking orders from the government these days.
