I’m not sure where Joe6pack is, and there’s no draft Friday thread so … this is going up as a work-in-progress. Witticisms, pictures, etc., will be added as (and if) they occur to moi.
Meanwhile, start kicking back, or forward, or whichever way you want the ball to go.
Have fun.

Yeah, yeah, moi knows – sooooooo last week.
Alright then, for all you NRL fans, who’s gunna win?
These guys?

Or these?

Though you’ll end up with a flock of bird-brains either way …
Meanwhile, for non-Victorians (and, indeed, Victorians) who may have missed this:
In time to avoid the grand final frenzy he famously deplored, Australia loses one of its great journalists, writers and voices — the inestimable Keith Dunstan. Contributing editor-at-large Tess Lawrence provides a touching tribute.
KEITH DUNSTAN, as befitting the quiet man with the bow tie who co-founded the Anti-Football League, surely timed his departure from this mortal coil to avoid non-attendance at today’s Grand Final, considered a defiant act of notorious calumny and civic treachery in this State of Victoria.

A gentleman in every respect.
Now, Joe6pack’s story is …
Hello Pubsters. Running a little late. Stuck in traffic. Really truly I was.
Of course we believe you, Boss – wouldn’t dare do anything else!
Joe also mentioned a long weekend – I feel very jealous of all you lucky people in the ACT, NSW, Queensland, and South Australia. However, whatever the length of your weekend, I hope everyone has a delightful one.
And may the best bunch of bird-brains win.

It’s not a natural thing to do to hold your 20 year-old daughter’s hand. Hence the awkwardness.
Another I use to sing many, many years ago, based again on a true story.
This clip has some graphic train crash clips. Wikipedia has a page on the crash that this song was based on. They sure knew how to prang them up in the old days in t6he good ole US of A.

I lost my breakfast and lunch just thinking about that. I’ve got three daughters also. Can’t imagine them wanting to waltz around in public with cameras covering every move and holding daddy’s hand.

Jaycee, take a deep breath and say a hail mary before you are struck down for thinking such things !!
Regarding Clive Palmer, I believe he gave a large donation to the Qld Health Union to fight state cuts.
I’ve got my doubts he will rubber stamp all of Abbotts policies. He will be wanting to make a name for himself and if that means sticking up for the battler to get more support he may do that. He has said he will block Abbotts PPL.
Remember also that he is into a number of conspiracy stories. He thinks their is a conspiracy regarding the carbon price that’s why he is a against it.
The point that I will make is that to believe in conspiracy theories you need to have an open mind. That means he may change some of his beliefs if presented with compelling information.
Might be time for us to sit down to dinner with him.
This an exchange I have been having with a Lib on the comments page of an article of absolute garbage published in the Jakarta Post by Greg Sheridan. It was the same time the Idiot was there.
For some reason I could only post as macca57 there.

Mr Sheridan is an acolyte of Mr Rupert Murdoch a man who, for purposes of usury, relinquished his Australian citizenship and took up an American passport. Mr Murdoch, by the way, owns and operates the Fox News Network in the U.S. A quick, casual glance at it’s website will give you an understanding of Mr Murdochs and, by default, his acolytes views on the S.E. Asian region and Islam in particular.
An unfortunate reality is that Mr Abbott is in thrall to Mr Murdoch. Mr Abbott, Mr Sheridan and Mr Murdoch, in particular, are not worthy of any trust you may wish to dignify them with.
Snakes are not the only creatures with forked tongues.

Laugh, that is amusing, I think the Australian people learned a lot about trust from Rudd and Gillard
=================================================================================

Let me, also, tell you a story about Tony Abbott.
The previous Australian Government negiotiated an agreement with Malaysia with regard to asylum seekers. In essence it was that the a/s would be transferred to a UNHRC refugee camp in Malaysia The Australian Government agreed to take refugees from the camp at a rate of something like 5/1. They also negiotiated with the Malaysian Government conditions such as legal work rights, no beatings and to supply educational resources to the camps. This deal was challenged in the highest court of Australian law and was, due to a legal technicality, deemed illegal. All that was needed was a change of legislation to remove the loophole. Tony Abbott, along with the political group called the Greens, would not allow the changes to pass and thus become law.
They opposed, much to their great shame, not on humanitarian grounds, but on political ones. In short they opposed only to obstruct the Gillard government, not because they had any great feelings of empathy to the a/s. They stopped what could have been the start of an Asia/Pacific regional co-ordinated plan to handle, humanely, the refugees that will flood and are flooding to this region. It is a looming crisis and one all countries need to be prepared for. Such is the character of Mr Abbott.
Other things you may wish to know about Mr Abbott;
His people make sure that all know about his charity bicycle rides. What they don’t say is that he charges the Australian taxpayer $A 390 per night living away from home allowance, and of course his full salary.
His Border Protection Minister, Scott Morrison, is a devout Born Again Christian and I would suggest that all read his Wikipedia page.
His Foreign Affairs Minister Ms Julie Bishop as a practising lawyer once argued before a judge that the people dying from diseased and rotting lungs caused by asbestosis and mesothelioma should not be given precedence in seeking just claims. She argued that just because they were dying they shouldn’t get a speedy trial. She knew full well that when those people died so did their claim. She thought nothing of those in pain and distress, only of her paymasters.
There’s an old saying in Australia….” if you shake hands with that bloke, count your fingers afterwards “.
I would if I were you.

In response to Macca57. Prime Minister Abbott’s charity bike rides have raised millions of dollars for charity over many years and no he doesn’t go on about it. What’s wrong with Scott Morrison being a committed Christian? Are you trying to say that Christians can’t be trusted or do you simply hate Christians? On Julie Bishop, lawyers are supposed to represent their clients are they not? Isn’t that how our law works? You cannot hold a lawyer guilty for his/her clients crimes – and that is what you are doing. Simply ludicrous.

Funny you should say that James L Mitchell.
The Prime Idiot may not go on about his bike rides. But, correct me if I’m wrong, I can’t seem to recall any of those other riders with him going on about the rides either? Y’know, their the ones who probably had to take annual leave, pay for accommodation and food from their own pockets, buy their own lycra and not have the luxury of a comcar or airline to get them home. Oh, and they don’t get to bignote themselves for 25 seconds on the nightly news either. But, they’re just ordinary, average Australians who know a mug lair when they see one…and they pay their own way.
As for Morrison, the less said the better. If Jesus died on a cross so that those such as Morrison can exist to twist the spirit of His message to their own hypocritical, and in my opinion, evil views, the underlying message of Christianity is broken beyond repair. Should there be a judgement day, I, for one, am more than happy to see Morrison face Him.
Bishop sought, deliberately, on behalf of her multinational clients, to add undue stress and bother to claimants dying of such horrible diseases. Men whose only crime was getting up and going to work everyday. Men who had wives, children, grandchildren and productive lives. Men who were happy. Bishop, for nothing other than money..that we know of anyway…chose to convince a court that these lives were of no import. That the families had no right to compensary damages because the father, husband, grandfather got out of bed everyday and went to work. In an environment he had been told was safe. Bishop sought to devalue productive and treasured Australian lives to save international shareholders from paying out a just compensation. Couple this with Abbotts insulting of Bernie Banton, a man who died of asbestos disease shortly after, and we get a pretty fair indication of the character of both Bishop and Abbott. They’ll do what the money tells them to do.
and that,
JamesLMitchell…….really is ludicrous.

Okay, thanks for conceding that PM Abbott (I can tell you just hate anybody calling him that – unelectable LOL) does not go on about his bike rides. When you criticise PM Abbott for appearing on the news aren’t you forgetting that he was the Opposition Leader and is now the Prime Minister and his profession (politician) involves appearing on the news? Of course I’m sure you extend the same disdain to Kevin Rudd.
On Morrison, since when does he say that the Coalition policy on asylum seekers is based on his Christian beliefs? Both political sides (even the Greens now) agree that the Coalition policies will result in less deaths but that is beside the point. You seem to be assaulting Morrison’s private religious views because of his Party’s policies.
On Bishop you haven’t really answered my response. Bishop represented her clients. Lawyers don’t make moral judgements on their clients – that is how the system works. Lawyers are advocates – they are not judges.

You’re right!
I was wrong when I said the Prime Idiot went on about his bike rides. My bad. His lickspittles did and will continue to do so. As for Rudd, I hold him in the same regard as the Idiot.
Under the ” our beliefs ” section of the Shirelive church, Morrisons church.
” We believe that the bible is God’s word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our every day lives. ”
” We believe that in order to live the hold and fruitful lives that God intends for us, we need to be baptised in water and be filled in the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to use spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues which in the initial evidence of baptism in the Holy Spirit. ”
As a devout man, it’s reasonable to assume that Morrison would be conflicted by the definition of Gods word, given it is accurate, authoritative and applicable. Surely God, as Morrison understands the concept, doesn’t condone the drowning of innocents, the incarceration of the desperate and not allowing the children to attend the funeral of their parents?…or is it because the desperate, the dead and the children are of Islam?
It goes to logic that if Morrison is as devout as we are being led to believe. The implementation of policy aimed at those mainly of another faith, who may or may not speak in tongues, is not going to be administered either fairly, justly or with a compassion that befits a modern society and certainly not a Christian one.
As for Bishop, perhaps Oliver Goldsmith sums it up well enough:
” Honour sinks where commerce long prevails ”
A Foreign Minister who lacks the moral will to understand that to advocate is not necessarily the same as to contest.
She will embarrass us all….badly.
I apologise for the length. The point I’m trying to make is that the Australian msm is so corrupt or inept that one way to ensure the message of how bad the Idiots govt is gets out is to engage overseas. I don’t think that the LNP trolls will be able to gain the level of traction that they do on Aus sites. As far as I am concerned the more international people exposed to to the Prime Idiot the better.
Actually, in relation to that bit on Tom Dooley that I put up earlier, there has been a review of that case and it appears that he was innocent and took the rap to protect the sister who actually committed the murder.
Very noble but pointless. Quite a number of cases have been reviewed in recent times and have come up with different verdicts than the original ones which were often badly tainted by political considerations of the time.
The Billy the Kid one is a case in point, but there are heaps of others like Wyatt Earp etc. Once you start researching into these cases, you can spend an awful amount of time getting wrapped up in them.
Maybe the Fridget and Brances are still 12 yr olds mentally – they’d have to be, to be “excited” to see Prince Harry.
Ian,
Your “lengthy” are very welcome.
Frrances Abbott, on being introduced to HRH –
‘Hi!’.
I thought one said something like ‘Good afternoon Your Highness’.
http://www.canberratimes.com.au/national/today-everyone-feels-like-a-monarchist-abbott-welcomes-prince-harry-20131005-2v0qb.html
Prince Harry must have left his NAZI uniform at home this trip! 😉
Malayasian exchange was 3 to 1.
Don’t forget Abbotts expensive charter flights to get to these charity (publicity) events. On one occasion it was $15,000 for flights meals accomodation for himself and his entourage.
Ian
Well done! I’m not brave enough to take on that lot.
The overseas media have been presenting a very different version of Abbott’s Indonesian adventures to the garbage we’ve been fed here. It’s good that you are willing to take on the Australian trolls who want to infest those sites with their lies and propaganda. I’m sure they have been ordered to comment and, no doubt, fed their lines.
Why is this not a surprise?

Leone,
The abbotts don’t do ‘class’ very well.
Well said , Ian.
God!….Leone2…it’s sickening…right to the heart.
But Janice –
Those young ladies were edumacated at the very posh and very expensive Monte Sant Angelo. As their father’s income is kindly contributed by us taxpayers we must have paid a small fortune to that school. I expect value for my money and I’m disappointed.
But I shouldn’t be. I’ve known some products of that elite academy. The Fishwyck femmes someone mentioned earlier on have more class than some of the alumnae of that school.
While Abbott was busy palming off his daughters onto Prince Harry he must’ve forgotten that royals don’t marry catholics.
I believe Cardinal Pell is, as we speak, working on ways to eject Fridget and/or Brances from the church, tactfully of course, so they are free to marry Harry.
Here’s a song for the Abbott girls.
Leone,
What has Harry done to deserve a fate like that. OMG! Blood Oaf as a father in law!
Barry J
I think you have just hit on the reason for Harry’s visit being the shortest ever by a royal. He’s back on that plane tomorrow morning, heading for Perth and then home, and no doubt very glad to be escaping the clutches of the Abbott sisters.
if only the royals were fundamentalist Mormons, then Harry could marry all of the sisters.
Tony walks like an ape, talks like a “challenged” person and looks like a goose…how the hell did we end up with this specimen??
Leone,
Better still: Muslims.
Am I the only person who is bored witless by fireworks? Pointless explosions, too much smoke, more noise than a shock and awe bombing, all for…well, what, exactly?
If anyone wanted to invade NSW a fireworks display on the harbour would be the ideal time. No-one would notice.
Harry, if you are awakened in the night by a figure clad in white, It may not be a ghost!
……. Run for your life!
maybe bloodoath had to keep a tight grip on the daughters’ hand to ensure she didn’t drop her drawers there and then and embarrass the poor prince into making a decision between them.
Some wise person decided Harry would stay in a Sydney hotel and not at Admiralty House, where the Queen stays when she’s in town. It was probably done with Harry’s safety in mind. A nice secure hotel room with security guards at the door is much better than a room in a house just a quick stroll across the lawns from Kirribilli House and the Abbott belles.
Leone2…you are not alone.
jaycee
Thank goodness for that.
If we’re going to talk who’s “Hot” and who’s not, let’s be brutally frank.
I’m certain Prince Harry has seen and bedded a lot “hotter” than Tony Abbott’s daughters.
Their thighs are too big, suggesting “horsey” status at some point in the not too distant future, and their tits are too small.
Their noses are too long for their faces and they have no brains at all.
They are, frankly, average twenty-something girls, who look their best in their youth but who will rapidly go to seed (as do we all, boys and girls).
All the above is in the context of them being “hot”, a subject I didn’t bring up, but which I’m happy to go on with. In fact didn’t Daddy Tony bring it up first… of all places on Big Brother? Classy!
Everyone is “hot” when they are young. Even I was regarded as such by certain short-sighted females.
Prince Harry would have on offer the creme de la creme of the world’s most alluring women and will pick one of them as his trophy wife (having had his fill of, probably, “Hotter” ones). It’s a tradition among the Royals: sow your wild oats then settle down to bread and butter pudding.
He will be polite to the “The Girls” and that’s about it. He’ll most likely thank his lucky stars he avoided the usual gushing, fawning infatuation and offered bodies that he’d be very used to accompanying him wherever he goes, anywhere in the world.
I wouldn’t be expecting any Royal Weddings between Australia and the Home Country any time soon.
And as someone said, they’re Catholics. That’s the biggest no-no in the World for a British Royal.
Ian , bravo. BB ,exactly!
Ian,
For courage and devotion above and beyond the call of duty, The Pub hereby awards you its highest honour – the Golden Echidna
and Bar …
Bushfire Bill,
The only “royal” I can think of who deliberately gave up his right to succession is Prince Michael of Kent. But I guess it’s a bit different when you are 15th in line, as opposed to Prince Harry’s 4th in line …
I have three daughters, all blonde bombshells, who would leave these bimbos for dead [unbiased, truly]
In my case I’m fairly sure there was one woman on the face of this planet who thought me “hot” or anything similar. If my appearance is going to worsen from here I will be spending most of my post-tax income in paper bags to cover my face, so I avoid frightening small children.
Fiona, i thought I had hit the jackpot this morning with Andrew Elder’s ‘Left right out’. Plagiarism and all, that could have been ‘my post’
AJ, self depreciation is a lonely place. Cut it out! Yer kids love you , that’s enough
Left Right Out,
The instant I saw the title to Mr Elder’s piece, my only thought was, “Wow!”
This clip of another song I used to enjoy singing many moons ago is surely a “Train-spotter’s delight”!
“Their thighs are too big, suggesting “horsey” status at some point in the not too distant future, and their tits are too small.”
Geesus BB – I have just returned home from 7 hours driving to a country race meeting, done my money, got bad hay fever, got booked coming home for innocuous speeding and it also turned out I didn’t have to even go.
However, I must comment on your post with my first Crownie in my hand for the day after all that – that I’m glad that someone has agreed with me that Abbott’s daughters have ordinary legs. I previously raised this during the latter stages of the 2013 Abbott election campaign with ‘limited response’.
Earlyopener,
Sorry that your day hasn’t been the best.
As for the Abbott fillies’ legs, perhaps some of us have been too busy getting stuck into other aspects of their appearance.
No doubt many would consider our (I include you in “our”) behaviour reprehensible, but in my opinion if young adults are silly enough to make themselves props to their father’s political ambitions, they also have to cop the scrutiny their parent receives. (If only their progenitor received as much …)
anyone notice what’s wrong with this picture?
Gippsland Laborite,
If you are referencing Manet, yes!
😉
(Hint for others: I don’t think women wore bikinis in the 19th century …)
Fiona
The Abbott daughter’s political marketing campaign is primarily why I mockingly refer to their limbs below their bum.
I don’t consider my comments reprehensible just purely astute.
