More precisely, the glory that was Julia.

  1. Rob Oakeshott made Julia Gillard cry by repeating a text he sent her just before last night’s vote – Your father would be proud of you. Rob became a bit teary too. So did I.

A lovely valedictory speech from Rob and so good to see Sarah and the kids in the gallery.

  2. Yes, Leone. I gave “Kevin” my two bob’s worth too
    o Kevin
I’ll vote for Labor, just because I have little choice with Abbott (an insult to representative government) and the Greens both treacherous to our institutions – if the latter had given in to common sense and supported Malaysia off-shore processing, we’d have nullified that as a solution. But they wanted to steal Labor’s leftist supporters, which they can do on such a topic.

But don’t ever expect me to help in the campaign after rewarding the most disgusting campaign of white-anting treachery I have known. Your selfishness has shamed our party and values.

For what it is worth, I think a blunt forthright response to the heart of Labor stands more chance of getting the message across than a protest vote in 3 months’ time. They need to know that I’m not impressed. A Tweet will disappear into the ether. An e-mail in response to their conciliation campaign gives them direct feedback. I think I was fairly unequivocal.

I nearly wrote pretty much those words – minus the asterisks, but I chickened out. Too much ‘lady-like conditioning’ in my younger days got the better of me.

  5. I’m going to miss my chance now of meeting PM Julia Gillard at the Community Cabinet Meeting in Rocky.

I suppose that all the proposed CC Meetings will now be can canceled so as to prevent them being used as venues to derail Labor’s run through to the election.

I have been to a function where there were hundreds of protesters present and they are not very nice places to be.

    Interesting times indeed.

  6. shanme that scops if qlders had shown more respect for the lady that helped re build qld by giving u a levy from us

    we may still have her

  7. norman I doubt he will read any of them in the long run

he never ever did before, so I was told

the web page if u remember looked so impressive
email write to your pm”never heard a word

so some one else may read it or it will be automatic spam

that’s what big companies do to relay letter re emails they are called spam

  8. I bet we will not see in the next poll, the question “Who do you prefer, Rudd or Gillard”. They will not be game to ask that question.

We are now seeing the political system run by popularity, based on polls. That can only lead to disaster.

We see that wonderful, gutsy woman, sitting in the house listening to the Oakeshott valedictory.

The new PM< will be traveling on the shirt tails of Gillard's many achievements of the last three years, as well as those of the three before. It will be the results of Gillard's efforts the the present PM.

I will not be working for the present PM in anyway. I will follow the example of the Julia over the last few hours. I will ignore the man, get on with doing all I can, so that Abbott does not attain, what his parents said was his destiny. He has done nothing to earn that privilege.

I will fight to see Julia's legacy protected. That much, she deserves. Labor will eventually come to their senses. They have made their choice, panicking because of

As I have been saying about those that attacked Julia, politics is not about popularity, but what one achieves. Therefor whether I like the present PM is of no account. What I do expect, that now after stalking the PM for three years, he better not muck it up.. He better not undo all the good she has achieved.

What Julia has achieve in the long run, not be undone. It is up to the present PM to ensure that is the case. I suspect she has achieved most of what she set out to do. Time now to move onto another field, which I believe she will also achieve at.

In the meantime, we need to do what we can. to keep Abbott, the mad monk, sitting where he is now. Better still would be to see him out of the house altogether.

After all, at the end of the days, politics is all about numbers.

Member for FIsher is giving his valedictory. Does that mean he is not running again. Wonder if he will dump any rubbish on others.

I can’t tell you how much I’ll miss Rob. It’s taken for granted that Lyne will now go back to the Nationals, at least for a few years. There isn’t another independent-in-waiting who can take Rob’s place. The Nats pumpkin will sit there and do absolutely bugger-all, except, of course, for showing up to every opening of something Oakeshott has won for the electorate and claiming all the credit.

  10. My reply to the Kev email;

    Dear Kevin,

Thank you for informing me of your plans and, in particular, your concerns about the erosion of trust. It is indeed a vexing question as is the problem of negativity. I have the very firm view that you, Kevin Rudd, fed, by covert action and unbridled malice, the very machine that created the ogre of vitriol and hate that we now endure.

I understand your distress at your, in my opinion, very necessary removal from office. I empathise with your bruised ego and shattered heart and the need to visit revenge. What I can’t reconcile, and never will, is your willing embrace of the Murdoch press to further those aims. A clear abrogation of the spirit of democracy and a grand betrayal of the Australian nation and her people. Your legacy, whatever it may be, will always be tinged with the hues of the sycophant and the morality of the traitor.

I wish you success but, alas, it will not come about with my support.

    Yours,

    Ian

  11. My response to Kevins Ego,

    Dear Megalomaniac White Ant,

It is the height of hypocrisy to bang on about ‘unity’ when it was you, and your band of henchmen, who single-handedly trashed Labor principles and values in the pursuit of your own egotistical interests over the last three years. There is no chance I will ever vote for a narcissistic sociopath. In fact, I will NEVER vote for the ALP whilstever you, Bill Shorten or the NSW Labor party have any role in the leadership.

That the party was prepared to reward your treasonous behaviour with the PMship, tells me all I need to know about the state of the party. I will actively campaign against you, Shorten and NSW Labor right.

Make the election date early as possible as I look forward to your demise.

    Regards,

    Spacey

  12. I’ve got my letter from Kevin

Here is a copy of my reply

    “No, Kevin.

For three years you have whiteanted the ALP Prime Minister and now by playing to the craven cowardice of too many of your Caucus comrades you have destroyed the political career of a Labor leader that ranks with the great John Curtin and Ben Chifley, the leaders of my youth.

As a long-time member of the ALP, I despise your plea for understanding.”

  13. I’m still perplexed how the history of Rudd’s whiteanting over the past 3 years has mysteriously disappeared from the media’s collective brain cell.
After all they were the recipients of it so it should be very clear in their minds.
Or perhaps this is the “honeymoon period”, where they make him think all is well and right in the world before they truly start to sink the boot in.

  15. Julia might have problems getting her message out, might have not been popular in the polls, but did not stop her from delivering all she set out to do.

To do this, with two Opposition leaders, one formal, one informal, only adds to her achievements. The milestones, Julia crossed off, oner by one, will be for what she is remembered for.

  16. Sorry that I’m not up to doing question time today. just not the same to me any more.

From the Fairfax live site, I did notice Combet with Emerson and Garrett among the backbenches. A huge loss of integrity for the government.

I see Spacey’s point more clearly now than just in my imagination. Rudd will have to work a miracle. The moral and policy strength of the previous ministers would have been a big advantage going into a campaign.

  18. There was another PM, when challenged winning by one vote, retired from the job, for the good of the country. That was Gorton..Yes. surprisingly, it is normal for PMs to be challenged during their term.
Sadly, if my recollections are wrong, he was the better PM.

Holding onto to the jobs at all costs, is nearly always not the way to go.

I hope the Julia has made the right choice.

    Pyne thrown out.

  19. I do not believe Julia wanted a way out. I think she wanted to see what she has achieved survive, Abbott not to succeed. I think the PM is a realist, and sees things as they are. The PM was able to accept, no matter how hard she tried, she was unable to change the opinions of those who not only disliked her, bit did it so with hate.

Julia realise that she has too many enemies. That it was time fo pull back, to save her legacy.

That she has done all she can.

  20. PS..Julia by her actions has made Rudd’s job easier, has allowed those who remain to move in behind Rudd with an easy conscience.

It is Julia that has ensured that the party will come together under Abbott.

Sadly we have to do the same, if we do not want Abbott.

We still do ot have to like Rudd That is ot what politics is about,

  21. “Another one gone.”

Probably not the last; the temptation on an early flight home may be too great.

  22. I suppose it’s not a matter of liking Rudd. It’s about keeping Abbott and his Neanderthals out of Government. I’ll still be voting Labor.I owe it to the country.

  23. The MSM. with all it’s capital city outlets and coordinated television and radio broadcasts far outweighed the new social media format. we were behind the eight ball from the start with the MSM. yelling into the public’s face all day, every day.
What sickens me now is the fawning by the MSM. over the results of their vicious destruction of the PM. NOW, they are “policy analytical”…NOW they are “personality sensitive”…but it is really just sympathy to assuage the guilt of their group-think destruction…..sort of.; “you back me up an’ I’ll back you up”……the MSM. is lower than filth…it is a smear of excrement.
Now we have two “God-botherer” leaders….all I can say is : Get ready for Jesus!

  24. I posted this on Mike Seecome’s story in the Guardian a little while ago because I am sick this omission from most of the commentator’s pathetic shit.

Here is the single most important explanation for the dumping of an excellent Prime Minister. The reflex action of the Old Media in Australia is to tear down Labor Governments this coincided with Rudd’s manic desire to tear down the then Prime Minister and leader of his own Party. He and his acolytes colluded with the Old Media by constant briefing against their own Party and Government. They had been doing this prior to the 2010 election, the leaks provided to Laurie Oaks were particularly damaging.
They continued their treacherous and cowardly leaking throughout the the last three years and succeeded in their joint enterprise with the Old Media proprietors to weaken their own Government to provide Rudd with the opportunity to take his chance.
The Labor caucus in an act of spineless stupidity rewarded the treacherous, lying cowards with the leadership of the Party. Rudd the treacherous coward is now surrounded by proven disloyal henchmen. They deserve each other. Without their low acts of betrayal, Julia Gillard would have had the clear air that Rudd was so determined she would not have. Even if it meant getting into bed with the likes of Rupert and Rhinehart.

I will hold my nose and vote Labor. Abbott determines that.

  25. Great to see the responses to Rudd’s email. Good on yas. I almost wish I had signed up to the ALP in order to send him a real stinker of a letter back. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to send him a letter like in the Harry Potter books??

  26. Rudd going over paperwork while Smith gives his valedictory speech.

    Nothing’s changed.

  27. The MSM should share much of the blame for the Leadershit .They have manufactured ,orchestrated and encouraged it over the past 3 years. End result 57 spooked parliamentarians. And a voting public that appears to be brain dead.
Is it possible to find out who voted for Rudd?

  28. Someone before posted that they were wondering why the MSM. seems to have collective memory los on the white-anting by Rudd to themselves…..No!..they haven’t forgotten, every anti caucus adjective, every slight of character has gone into that fat dirt file Credlin carries under her arm when she goes into the House!…It is all there waiting for the election.
    You can just imagine it!

  29. Stephen Smith, too, at least at the election. Another minister very strong on integrity. What a shambles.

  30. I unsubscribed yesterday from ALP mailing lists while the vote was still happening as I had a sneaking suspicion (while hoping for otherwise) Julia will be gone.

I pretty much said exactly what SK response was. In a nutshell “You can shove it as I will gladly talk down Allan Griffin to everyone I can and know in his electorate. F/off and never contact me again”.

  31. o dear that’s wa gone the great mind never thought of that sort of thing did they

so they lose more seats just by people quitting

    clever not

  32. I will vote against Abbott, but it doesn’t stop me from saying this.

This Mob have been salivating and having wet dreams about this event for almost three years. You can bet they will wring absolutely every drop of perceived newsworthy/opinionated coverage that they can to the level of exhaustion.

Annebelle Crabb looked as though she was in the throes of multiple organisms last night as did Ms Sales. Their level of Abbott love is surely tempered somewhat in the light of the founding and fumbling of what should have been an opportunity to cash in on these events.
