Yup, Julia Gilard has been taken for a ride by too many men in her life. She is too kind.
She has her Praetorian Guard around her now and they are all good men as far as I know: Shorten, Bourke, Dr Emerson, Stephen Conroy, Wayne Swan, Mark Dreyfus, Graham Perrett.
TLBD,
I was such a mad Hollies fan that I searched all over Sydney to find a movie theatre showing the film that the lead singer was in. 🙂
C@tmomma,
Did you find? They were a bit special. Your perspective was probably a bit different from mine.
Just dropped in to catch up and what do I see? A daft poll with yet more
‘Who do you like best, Rudd or Gillard’ questions. Have the events of Thursday gone right over the heads of the fools who write the questions? Why ask such stupid questions when there’s no chance Chickenman is going to be leader. I had hopes these pollsters would now stop it with the Rudd/Giilard garbage, but it seems they can’;t think of anything else to ask. What about an Abbott/Turnbull preferred Liberal leader question? That would make a nice change. Fat chance of it ever happening though.
My turn for another oldie
I am taking a rest from ‘We Iz Doomed I Say, Doomed with R U Double D’ in other places.
TLBD,
Yes, I found one theatre in Campsie and I duly got my parents to drive me over there so I could see it!
gorgeous dunny,
It takes all sorts of music to make the turntable go round. 🙂
puffytmd,
‘Doomed WITH Rudd’? Please explain? 🙂
leonetwo,
If they keep asking that question, you can only draw the conclusion that they are being deliberately mischievous, or as pollsters they don’t have a clue about what polling should be used for. Probably both.
That is, deliberately and mischievously misusing polling. 🙂
sorry, tired, WITHOUT R u double d.
Well congratulations Pubsketeers!
You can add another KPI to your kit. I used to LOVE reading through the days posts at PB and would read each and every one because each and every one had real value.
I had given up being able to do that again.
But I just read todays PUB posts and they were just as great as PB was in the good old days!
Thank you!
Just back from watching La Bohème by Opera Australia. Starred Diego Torre as Rodolfo.

About the same size as Jussi Björling (not dissimilar in looks) and a huge voice. Not quite the same control.
One thing is for certain. It will be forbidden in my family to name any child, dog, cat, bird or hamster ‘Kevin’, for the next 3 generations. For no other reason than I must have read it 45,000 times on PB already.
Sorry to all the Kevins out there, but them’s the breaks.
Kevlar Kevvie he ain’t.
I read a few posts over at Feud Central. Even when Rudd says it is over his fan’s can’t accept it. I think the ALP MP’s who supported Rudd have accepted it though, and it appears the bulk of the MSM have accepted it… so I’m not sure how long the fan delusion can last.
puffy,
I understand Messrs Hartcher and Kenny have the like resolution.
I take it you’re back from Colin Country?
I’m starting to think that ‘we need to return to the reform of the Hawke and Keating governments’ is aged male Labor politician code for ‘we need a bloke in charge’. How can anyone say that Julia Gillard’s government has not been one of reform?
Old blokes longing for a return to the imaginary glory days of their younger years would do well to take themselves to the local bowlo where they will find lots of other old bloikes already reminiscing about the good old days.
Space Kidette @ 10:27pm,
It has been so good to be at The PUB for the past three days – even if from further away than usual, and with a little laptop that doesn’t always behave as I would like.
The main themes I have taken from the conversation have been good sense and realistic optimism. (For me, dying on my feet rather than living on my knees definitely counts as being both realistic and optimistic.)
The company, the music, the humour, the tolerance – and the free drinkies – what a place!
Best I not miss BB’s next Abduls nosh. Despite my avatar, am very much a Sydneysider. In fact, I once lived a couple of hundred metros from said fine eating establishment.
fionajr,
There is no place like home, Dorothy! And that is how I feel here!
It’s worth the occasional glance over the road just to witness the mental acrobatics of the Ruddsters. Hilariously, bemused has cited Mark Baker, who dutifully points out how all the events were a fatal blow to Gillard.
They haven’t got to Andrew Bolt yet but they must be getting closer.
Spacey,
How I wish there was a “kiss” emoticon!
No Fibs Geek @geeksrulz now
David Marr details Abbott’s years as a reactionary Catholic warrior on campuses across the country. http://bit.ly/ZVgA2k #auspol
Great idea re GG hosting a luncheon or similar for mothers and fathers who were there on Thursday . And C@tmomma , that theatre in Campsie was my local . Small world !
Duckie,
Yes, I am home. Are you familiar with The Belltower there? Largest musical instrument in the world. It holds the old Bells of St Martin on the Field.

I am actually going to head off to bed as I have a touch of sunburn. I will catch you all in the morning!
If we’re talking about code in some of the recent statements about what JG ‘must do’, I’d note that there’s a recurring theme about commentators wishing her and Swan stayed away from ‘class warfare’, as if sticking up for the interests of the working class/poor is a *bad* thing.
I just cannot get images to work!
Drag0nista @Drag0nista 3m
A few people asked for a post that explained what happened this week. Here it is: Crean, Rudd & WTF http://is.gd/TkbNXv at @AusVotes2013
C@tmomma and Levin 12,
I have also been in the Campsie theatre.

Spot on, leone. I am sure it is code or dog whistling for the good old macho male days.
They don’t even realize the irony. Gillard has the consensus approach of Hawke anyway, plus many of the reforms passed have been every bit as challenging and difficult as the Hawke-Keating economic reforms.
History will judge this as one of the great-achieving governments.
Puffy,
The baby laptop allowed me to sprinkle some woofle dust for you
😉
A return to the glory years of Hawke and Keating as mooted by those resignation speeches; especially Marn saying that the factions should pick the ministry again. Yet no one pulled him up saying that it was his man Chicken Kev who stopped that.
No looking back, the way is forward.
Perhaps JGPM could use: “Abbo, shut up!”
Interesting article.
Puff,
No. Last time I went touristing in WA was 1999.
Puff,
You’re not Robinsa Crusoe! It takes the faerie dust.
msadventure2…..what was the theatre called ? I think it started with O . A guy used to play the organ before the movie started .
It won’t be The Hawke Way or The Keating Way: it’ll be The Ranga Way.
Seriously, JGPM has more grasp of detail and what’s required for Australia (rather than to stay in government) than those two did. Given a bit of tailwind she’ll be uncatchable.
Being one of Bruce Springsteen’s 15,000 back up singers for three hours is one of life’s great concert experiences. I saw 2 of his concerts this week in Sydney and the man is just incredible. What a show.
The Friday night crowd was pumped and ready even before he came on whereas the Wednesday night crowd was more reserved and needed prodding to get up. Friday night was a concert In the true meaning of the word with the audience helping to drive him on.
If you live in Victoria you must go and see him this weekend. Indoors is best and standing area in the front is best of all.
This is from Friday nights encore………

Levin, the Odeon
Levin12,
Would those be the days of the Wurlitzer?
I want to see more of this ‘adoring crowd’ reporting. It makes a nice change.

I remember back them we had intermission. Cartoon/serial/ newreel first, intermission and then the main feature.
Across the road Puff has made Shows’ list. I hope that doesn’t mean here what it means in the US of A …
Reckon we might have the new Ministry on Tuesday and the swearing, so to speak, on Wednesday.
Philvee
I saw his first concert up here in Brisvegas. What a show. He did a cover of The Saints – Just Like Fire Would – especially for us Brisbanites he said. Highlight for me was Bruce and Tom Morello doing ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad’. Three and a quarter hours of brilliance.
Thank you msadventure ! And yes tlbd , that was the one ! Funnily enough , I have an electric piano that is the same brand . It is on loan at the moment to an amazing 17 year old jazz pianist . His name is Kade Brown .
Let’s get it on!
Levi12,
Yours?
