Good Evening patrons and staff of the wonderful establishment called “THE PUB”.

Seems it was all doom and  gloom on the poll front front this week for the party of  light and good.

The party of dark and evil are acting like they have already won and it would be better for everyone if Julia just handed over the keys to Tony and lets not worry about a pesky election anyway  .

Be of good cheer people there is still 211 days until election day and if a lot can happen in a week well a shitload can happen in 30 weeks.

Don’t be downcast be positive ,have a drink, chill and take a few deep breaths.

The music is great, the staff are without doubt the best in any pub anywhere, the company exceptional and the bouncers benevolent.

As always it,s raffle night and you can ask for your numbers straight away as apparently supposedly educated people cannot grasp the concept of after 6.00pm.

Fiona won last week and very narrowly missed out on adding to our kitty of $40.70.

‘A prize will also be given to the first person to name tonight’s header language  without looking up any translator tools.

A tip for the horses tommorow is Melb.race 7/ 6 .Apparently as some ability but who knows.

enjoy “THE PUB” ,cropped-beer_pub_header.png

Now that is a great option. Attending the celebatory gathering!!

If Rudd is truly on board, an election win is possible. That is why I so want to believe that this is indeed the case.

  2. Victoria,

For his own sake, I do hope Rudd has put all the bitterness behind him. Oh, that reminds me, I nearly fell off the chair the other day when I heard Rudd say “Julia (slight pause) Prime Minister. IMO he’s still a pr**k but working for Labor at the moment.

  3. Fiona – great that you received acknowledgment for your election ad idea – I thought it was simple and effective! I also wondered about making a donation to the election fund – will investigate that further. Can’t countenance the idea of TA as PM!

  4. This from an NRL player, Chris McQueen. He “gets it” re the MSM and their uselessness…

    “McQueen just responded

@ChrisTweetsGood: League season is back all the hack journos are stalking supporters twitters for ‘BREAKING NEWS’ #Nrl #JournosAreRedundant”

  5. Good afternoon everyone. Good to see you all had a good night last night at The Pub. Couldn’t get access to put my numbers in, am I allowed to double up next week? 🙂 🙂

If I recall Xenephon (sp) left Malaysia under a bit of a cloud a while back, I could be wrong. Wonder why he was granted a Visa and then stopped when he got there? Was he granted a Visa? Oooh like when all Liebs are invovled the plot thickens.

  6. Victoria, if that comment from Danny Lewis has any substance at all it undermines the whole rationale behind the coup in June, 2010, and Julia Gillard reluctantly taking on the leadership, because Rudd could not be relied on to run the show.

If he couldn’t then he certainly can’t be now and over the coming months. If he is the man the majority in his party judged him to be, and I believe he has shown himself to be since then, he will be unbearable given his head again.

My sense, reading your comments over the past few days is that you are suffering an uncharacteristic loss of faith and are clutching at straws. In my opinion, unnececessarily so, by the way. I have great faith in Julia Gillard, if not to win this election in the face of Rupert Murdoch’s ruthless determination to destroy the NBN and Labor, then certainly to make it clear to the Australian electorate that there is an honest alternative there for them to lead the defence of our democracy.

  7. Laurie, if you are still here.

Try phoning the ALP office and let them know you had trouble with the online donating. Sometimes the websites need tweeking. I know the QLD office likes to hear of problems and they can also take credit card over the phone if the website won’t.

  8. Another way of course is to make a donation direct to the Labor candidate in your electorate or their campaign group.

  9. Yes, msadventure2, I should have pushed a bit harder, however, I would still like to be solicited for a donation. Most times Animals Australia do a bit of soliciting for big causes, I will fork out some extras on top of my modest monthly donation.

That’s why I thought some crowdsourcing could be fruitful. I am pretty sure that was part of Obama’s campaign funding methods.

PMJG is as tough as nails and she has been brilliant getting this far. But in order for the govt to continue to implement their agenda, they need to be united party. No ifs and buts. If Rudd is going to support her and the team between now and the election, I will be more than happy. This is despite my personal disdain for him.

  11. National Party office put out a request to ALP members for donations, I heard some people complain saying they do enough by volunteering etc. though it was probably only an isolated group and others have donated.
The LNP have no trouble asking the big companies and businesses for donations.

I do not believe conceding the leadership is being implied

    Here is the comment again

[Thought I’d pop in and report an interesting conversation I had with a Federal MP (a Rudd supporter who is considered part of his “inner circle”).

He said outright that Rudd is in the media with the PM’s knowledge and blessing and intimated that some sort of meeting took place between them where they agreed on the best way to use Rudd’s skills to win Labor the next election.

Now, maybe I’m looking at things through this prism now, but has it occurred to anyone else that Ruddy is out putting the notion of the need to reform the MRRT precisely BECAUSE the Government has plans to make changes to it part of their election platform and they want the heat of the debate out of the way now, rather than closer to the election?

It also gives Ruddy plenty of opportunities to remind people he’s a team player and that everyone is pulling together to get Labor across the line in September.

    Food for thought …]

  13. PatriciaWA,

I agree with Victoria on this. I don’t think there is any way the PM would even countenance a return to a Rudd Leadership (or, I’d venture to say, even a Ministerial position) but she may have promised him an ambassadorship somewhere where he can strut around like the rooster he is.

Getting him onside means he is more likely to pull with the team rather than against it.

  14. { Paul Bongiorno has been sacked. }

Something interesting I picked up reading tht link BB was the tenticles of Murdoch reach right into the bowels of 10 now.

They have long captured the ABC, influence Fairfax, now have 10 in tow and there is not much else left to corrupt now.

You gotta give it to him, he sure knows how to maximise his influence to ensure his political influence is complete.

    { Executive producer Kylie Merritt said the revamped series, produced by News Limited, would draw on the publisher’s 2400-plus journalists to offer viewers “unrivalled” expertise and analysis. }

  15. Thanks, Victoria and Janice. My apologies. I jumped from there to another comment somewhere about PMJG being more of a team player and with the country’s real interests at heart than Rudd and therefore more likely if she thought it would help to stand down than him. Now where was it I read that?

Perhaps I over re-acted there, Victoria, because of my concern about your flagging spirits in the last few days. I rely on you to keep me informed about our unfolding political drama over there the details of which I simply cannot keep up with any more. I am so glad that as well posting here you have continued with your sound commentary over at the other place.

No worries. The msm and coalition have become more shrill in the past week, and that is hardly surprising, although frustrating. My despondency has stemmed from the perceived disunity of the Labor party. I will be one happy camper if the govt are united. I believe that it was another poster on PB who said something about PMJG stepping down.
I can assure you I will be more upbeat in future, if I see the govt is genuinely united. 🙂

  17. SENATOR Nick Xenophon has been advised he will be deported from Kuala Lumpur tonight and arrive in Melbourne at 9.20am tomorrow.

He plans to hold a press conference upon his arrival into Melbourne aboard Air Asia flight D7 214, which is departing Kuala Lumpur at 11.30pm.

Meanwhile, Australian politicians have called off a visit to Malaysia as officials seek the release of Senator Xenophon from Malaysian custody.

  18. “He has been told he is not allowed to make telephone calls and is not even allowed to go to the bathroom without a police guard.

Senator Xenophon managed to make a call to The Sunday Mail when he was left unattended in the interrogation room.”

Why did he call the Sunday Mail, and isn’t today Saturday? Why not DFAT?

  19. Re Senator X,

One really has to ask whether this is exactly what he was after and/or he knew this would happen.

Ringing media outlets and having press conferences arranged for when he returns smacks of one big PR exercise on his part.

  20. If BB doesn’t mind, I will be tweeting that message out, and variations of same.

    I don’t mind.

  21. “He has been told he is not allowed to make telephone calls and is not even allowed to go to the bathroom without a police guard.

Good jumped up little fella held the govt. to ransom.
See how important he is now.

  22. Joe6pack,

Have I ever mentioned that your eyebrows are gorgeous?

No you haven’t but completely understandably.
good looking is a curse sometimes

  23. good looking is a curse sometimes

Alas, I have found that out the hard way too.

It’s a load we bear, Joe.

  24. The number of women who completely ignore me – clearly afraid of their own emotions if they make a connection – is legion.

I am ignored by women everywhere I go. Poor things. If only they realized I am happily married.

  25. Joe (and Bill, if I may be so familiar with you both),

Abduls will be a wall of tears …

Surely, surely you mean a veil of tears …

  26. We have to help them cope Joe. Poor things. They’re like putty in our hands. It’s a big responsibility.

I know they cry on the inside as I leave the room, even though they pretend to be cheering and high-fiving each other.

There’s an old song: “Was was he born so beautiful?”.

    I wish I knew.

It has brought me nothing but sadness.

  27. Surely, surely you mean a veil of tears …

SEVEN veils, in fact. Six off before lunch and the last around baklava time.

It’ll take some of the heat off Joe and I.

    There is a God.
