Thanks anyway but I just realised he had included it. I’ve been doing too much research today and too much skimming and the old eyes missed it. So, sorry Finns, you were totally on the ball.

I did use a magnifying glass to remove the grass seed. That’s why I know I got all of it.

Something else has happened, but I’m not sure what.

  4. Believe in climate change or not, there is no denying that the most vociferous and fanatical arguments come from those kitchen table scientists who do not believe we are on the eve of a catastrophic event. Their media bosses let them loose on anybody who even merely says “it’s hotter today than last week”.

Somebody must have said such a thing recently; enough to inspire Andrew Bolt to dedicate five of his last eight blog articles to attacking proponents of climate change.

  5. My son participated in this event today, he got home this afternoon, had a shower and went to bed. He is still sleeping!

MORE than 16,000 tenacious competitors are expected to brave the treacherous 20km Tough Mudder course at Phillip Island’s Grand Prix circuit over the weekend.

The enduring participants withstood military-style obstacles, crawled through hundreds of metres of mud wrapped in barbed wire, evaded flaming straw bales and towering 3.5m barriers.

  6. Wow! Good game of tennis! I knew Federer was going to win, but watching it was like the Master giving Grasshopper a lesson. I don’t believe Roger would have brought his A Game right from the get go if he had not had respect for the potential that Bernard Tomic has. Also, he would be cognisant of the hole that Bernard fell in last year, and realising he has talent I believe Federer would hope that Bernard got out of his slump and played on. So he didn’t treat him like a chump, he treated him with respect.

Ah, if only the tie-break in the Second Set had gone Tomic’s way. I’d still be sitting there engrossed. 😀

Still, Roger Federer had to bring a shot out of his magic box of tricks to win the Tie-Break.

    Great stuff.

Can’t play Tennis well, but I love watching the Grand Slam events.

  7. DO NOT GIVE YOUR DOG ASPIRIN OR ANY OTHER HUMAN PAIN OR ANTI-INFLAMMATORY MEDICINE.

IT WILL DO THEM GREAT HARM.

goodoh, then I’d just bathe the paw in a warm salt solution, and perhaps apply some betadine (diluted) or other antiseptic.

sounds absolutely gruelling, your son must be fit (I’m guessing a top-up to pre-season footy?)

Bob certainly doesn’t look 16 years of age. love the way you can barely see him 😆

Greg Hunt has resorted or is at least is supported by an army of spam bots who retweet his tweets. Could it be that he cannot find real people on twitter that like what he says? Who knows. We know the Libs or supporters do run other Spam Bots like LaborDirt. Here is a breakdown of just 1 LNP tweet.

  11. Greg ‘The Cunning Stunt’ Hunt, sold his soul to the Anti Christ Abbott and Cruella De Ville Credlin about 3 years ago. He has no personal integrity left. He will do anything to become a Minister. Poor, pathetic wretch.

  14. Greg Hunt – shades of Newt in 2011?

Update: Only 92% of Newt Gingrich’s Twitter Followers Are Fake
    By John Cook
    Aug 2, 2011 2:40 PM

Yesterday, we published an item based on a former Newt Gingrich staffer’s claim that Gingrich assembled his 1.3 million Twitter followers—a number that he’s taken to bragging about—in part by buying fake Twitter followers. A lot of people did not think that was true! But today social networking search firm PeekYou announced that it had crunched the data and come to the conclusion that roughly 106,055 of Gingrich’s million-plus followers are real people. The rest are fakes.

  15. There is also the problem of people deliberately setting up 1000s of fakes that follow you as a sort of attack, but I don’t that’s the case with Greg. I’m not sure about Rudd.

  16. Boy, and Tony Abbott said Labor would run a ‘filthy’ campaign. I don’t see Labor trotting out the filth on Twitter that the Geek has exposed here tonight, via the Spam Bot Tweets and misleading garbage Tweets.

One thing you can guarantee. If Tony Abbott ascribes a behaviour to the Labor Party, it is only because he is seeking to cover up his own party’s exact selfsame behaviour.

  17. Yes, I thought so! However, maybe the Porn-related Accounts thing was an attempt by Nerdy Kevin to do another ‘Scores’ credibility boost? 😉

  18. Finally, before I turn into a pumpkin, I thought I’d be so kind as to dedicate a song at The PUB to James Ashby and Tony Abbott:

    😉

    Good night all!

  19. Toxic to dogs

Onions raw or cooked, includes spring onions, chives, garlic.
    Grapes, fresh and dried.
    Alcohol
Human medicines unless ok’ed by the vet.
Tea Tree oil. (Those TTO dog shampoos have minute amounts in them. Also toxic to cats.)
Nutmeg. (And don’t give it to young kids, can affect the nervous system.)
    Cooked bones.
Chocolate (The higher the cacao content the worse for them. And cats.)
    Avocado.
    Macadamia Nuts
    Caffeine
    Xylitol artificial sweetner
    Anti-freeze for car radiators.
Salt, too much can cause problems.

Arum lily (the pollen I think) is toxic to cats. Watch out for flower arrangements with lots of lillies, keep out of reach of cats.

    An excellent site.

However, I’m not sure all this angst, in articles like this, is a healthy thing. It smacks of a lynch mob.

I suppose Lance Armstrong is guilty of everything he’s been accused of, but that’s not the point. Does it really have to end up in dozens, if not hundreds of journos kicking him?

It’s about the kickers, not the kickee.

  23. Good morning all.
It is a blissfully cool morning here. Overcast and just 20 degrees. A bit of drizzle overnight has laid the dust. Paddy dog is revelling in a damp coat and checking out his domain for any interlopers. There is nary a breath of a breeze and hardly a sound to be heard.

It appears the Fireys will be able to make progress in containing the fires they’ve been battling. I’m hoping this weather is the same for Cessnock. The fire down there was started by four brainless males who drove a vehicle out into the scrub and torched it.

RE your “Kochie’s gunna cop-it” link. It’s hard to believe there’s still a fuss about breast-feeding in public. And especially at a pool, FGS, where but for a few pieces of cloth most are half-naked anyway.

You’d have to ogling non-stop to catch the flash of a nipple as a breast is being tucked back in out of sight.

Did you see the Bribie Island protest? fantastic photo of women breast-feeding en masse. Well done.

  25. Good morning everyone.
    BK
Thanks for the links, no Aussie cartoons 😦 Ah well, can’t win them all I guess.
    Janice
Glad it has cooled down for you and Paddy, enjoy while it lasts. Janice, those gel-pads for the bed you me onto, you should have a commission set up with that mob, because of you they have gained four customers. 🙂 I put mine on Mum’s bed without telling her, she got up next morning and asked what it was, said she slept extra well, so have ordered one for her. 🙂

  26. http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/breakfast/prime-minister-julia-gillard/4470440
    PRIME MINISTER JULIA GILLARD
    Broadcast:Friday 18 January 2013 7:33AM

Ms Gillard joined RN Breakfast’s John Doyle this morning to discuss the year ahead, having recently returned to Sydney from fire-ravaged Coonabarabran. She described locals who lost their homes in the bushfires as ‘brave’ and ‘stoic’, and said the legacy of the Black Saturday fires in 2009 — with new early warning systems and mobile alerts — had helped to save many lives.

LANDHOLDERS in Melbourne’s south-east are furious after they bankrolled the election campaign of a Kingston councillor – so he would help rezone their land for development – only to find out he offered a deal to an anti-development councillor in a bid to get elected as mayor.

Questions hang over the funding of last year’s election campaign of the councillor, Paul Peulich, son of state MP and powerbroker Inga Peulich. Landholders confirmed to Fairfax Media that donations to Cr Peulich totalled thousands of dollars. Under law, councillors must declare all gifts and money donations over $500. On his official return filed at Kingston Council, Cr Peulich said that he had nothing to declare.

    THURSDAY, JANUARY 17, 2013
    Australia’s Unemployment Rate–5.4% (Hello Newman)
Today the ABS released the December 2012 numbers, which now means the past 5 years encompasses only the Rudd/Gillard years.

The figures showed the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate shifting from 5.3% to 5.4%. The November figure was revised up from 5.2% to 5.3%, which sounds a big shift, but really it was just revised from 5.23% to 5.25%.

  27. Any male that finds the sight of breast feeding an erotic or a offensive thing is in urgent need of medical attention!!
PS. Kochy’s…(from the barossa Valley) correct pronunciation is really ..: Koch as in Cock..just the ch at the end is joined and softened somewhat…but it is still cock!

  28. As a Mum who proudly breast fed both her babies, one of them for 16 months, all I can say is that if I saw men staring at me, I just stared right back while I continued the feed. They usually stopped staring first. 🙂

I took to wearing big t-shirts mostly so the head of the wee bub was both protected from the sun and prying eyes, but you always had to get ‘arranged’, and the suction cap attached, 😉 , so that’s when I found the stares occurred the most.

Those prurient prudes weren’t going to break my stride, or dry my milk up with embarrassment. That’s for sure!

  29. And speaking of cockroaches, you watch the slimy Peulich’s try to ride out the storm around Paul Peulich, now that he has got his claws into a seat on Council.

  30. Gravel,
I’m so pleased that you find the gel pads work well for you. I’m always reluctant to recommend things to others 🙂 However, since I’ve been using mine over two summers now, I know I would find it hard to go without it.

  31. foreverjanice,
I am so happy for you and the crew today. The cows might even get some green grass shoots to eat eventually out of the rain they are forecasting to occur from the Monsoon Trough this week. I hope so. 🙂

  32. C@t, The cows are lined up at the back fence right now. I cut down some bamboo for them yesterday so they expect the same today 🙂
It will be lovely if we get a decent fall of rain asap. It is depressing enough to live through drought and heat but doubly so when you see the poor bloody animals out there quite unable to help themselves ease their distress.

  33. Leroy Lynch

Appreciate the link to the interview between John Doyle and the PM. No gotchas. Just a good conversation.

  34. gravel2,
You make an interesting point about ‘Word of Mouth’ sells. It seems, in these days of social media and non-homogenous populations, that it also sells politicians. As this fascinating, behind-the-scenes and after-the fact take-out article from the US Presidential Election spells out:

Goff said that many voters in focus groups, when shown ads from both
campaigns with competing claims, threw up their hands and said, essentially, “It’s all bullshit.”

“The best thing we can do at least now with the technology we’ve got is try to get people talking to their friends,” Goff said. “That’s when you have to get into the sort of nitty gritty of how these different [online and social] networks operate and the sort of language and vernacular of each of them and how you can actually be a part of it.”

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/10/republican-party-election-2012_n_2443344.html

I know both Australian political parties had people over in the US embedded in the campaigns. I think we are seeing the fruits of that now with the PM’s social media forays. And Greg ‘The Cunning Stunt’ Hunt’s Twitter Bot Army.

Trust the repugnant Conservatives to use the tools for evil, not good, though.

  35. The weather bureau has stated that there is no rain forecast for Victoria until the end of January! If accurate, it will mean that my area of Melbourne would have had 1mm of rain for the whole month of January!!
