Red Faces is from a far more slowed down time in history, way before mobile phones, internet, face book, twitter etc etc. That’s what makes the comedy fun. there is no twitter feed or whatever.
I remember talking to the editor for Rolling Stone about the time mobile phones were becoming more affordable so more common & what he thought. His comment was very predictive “they’ll do nothing but speed our lives up”. Yep, welcome to the fast lane.

You have excellent taste.
When I was younger, and in my prime, I had a hairstyle? the same as Francis Rossi
Joe,
Well, fair enough, I suppose. I can’t remember an Australian captain who would not make some sort of effort. Try to make 650 by the end of tomorrow and see what the bowlers can do.
A good tweet on cricinfo “”How can they make up time at the end of the day if they go off for bad light?” Now that’s a good question, James.”
#boatbuyback is trending on (Australian region) Twitter. I cannot find any complimentary. From Tony, this is more bizarre a policy than I ever dreamed he could think up, and I use the term ‘think’ very loosely.
Leaving the light to the umpires is a really bad idea, as we have seen already. The batsmen can decide when danger overrides the quest for runs.

You have excellent taste yourself
Night all, off for dinner.
I think champagne all round to celebrate the Coalitions new boatbuyback policy. People smuggling and overseas aid contributions settled in one go.
I missed most of the last 25 years of music but I thought this was a very decent cover.

Yeah, I’m getting that feeling too. The most recent comedy show that I’ve really enjoyed was Good News Week pre-2011, back before Twitter, Facebook and other social media seeped into absolutely everything.
I didn’t really enjoy the Hamster Wheel that much, Mad as Hell even less so. That other skit show on the ABC whose name evades me I didn’t bother watching, since I heard that what passed as “comedy” on there was “be as vicious and offensive as possible to Labor politicians, especially Julia Gillard”.
I was at the supermarket today and the youngster on the checkout said it was his first time voting. He said he had to vote for Labor because “Abbott is such a twat.” I gave him the thumbs up.
Good idea, Puffy.

Help yourselves, everyone.
Most Oz “comedy” programs give laughs about ten per cent of the time. It is a matter of choice whether that is enough.
We have not yet gone to the depths of US “comedy” where, with a few honourable exceptions such as MASH, the jokester pauses after telling his joke and then repeats it.
I like the Vevo Graphics.
Good definition but focused on a point and somewhat soft. Suits my eyesight.
Leaving aside why wide champagne glasses are the size and shape they are, why on earth would anyone prefer them to flutes!

A couple of other bands I liked back then
kaffeeklatscher,
What is your definition of “a couple”?
Ducky,
Take care where you waddle …

Was that one also a cover? – very Van Morrison in style.
Fiona,
Plenty of pubsters to keep me on the straight and narrow.

I’m using the patented HoJo eleventy seven calculator.
kaffeeklatscher,
I have one of those, in case of emergency.
What a petty miserable scragheap of nation we have become.

Such a shame that 2/3rd’s of her stuff was recorded to such crappy standard.
I heard her sing with no amps and just a drummer and acoustic guitars once.
From cricinfo “England openers build steadily”. Yeah, right, at 2.12 / over!
CTar1,
I didn’t have the pleasure but the quality is obvious, even in crappy recordings.
CTar1,
But I did hear Melanie Safka in Canberra: just her and a guitar.
Didn’t sing this one, though
Tone’s away with the ferries #BoatBuyBack.
TLBD – Talented, no doubt, but very quirky!
For as long as I’ve realised that (most) given names have specific meanings, I have thought that parents should be very careful about the names they give their children.
A few minutes ago I came across a prime example:
Felicity Cassandra
How oxymoronic!
Maybe they were warding off Ajax the Lesser!
Fiona – Just so Lucky.
CTar1,
I have a CD of hers. Maybe a quirky voice but she didn’t sing much out of the norm.
Ducky,
I doubt it!
At least when I named DD Felicity, I knew what the name meant, and I knew why I was bestowing it upon her.
CTar1,
Did you have to!
I give you
Why didn’t that vid display?
Took a few seconds.
Scoot, the face that launched a thousand ships.
One of my cousins named his first child ‘Bach’.
FMD.
Ducky,
You forgot to enter the youtube html on a new line. Moi kindly fixed it.
