Xmas is over

Well Tragics, Xmas time is over and Pb will resume tommorow.

This little blog will not disappear,it will still be here with a new post every week or so and maybe more surprises.

It will be a haven for you people that wish to have a break from the argy-bargy of pb,and just want to have a bit of a chat.

Talk about Politics,  Cricket,Tennis,Wildlife,Trucks,Aviation, etc, put up a you tube link or photo, whatever.

The overriding  theme will always be the political scene in Australia and especially the 2013 Federal election.

The same rules will always apply

Treat other posters how you would wish to be Treated.

  1. I’m sure the Opposition will find some way to disparage the UN appointment whatever it is!

  2. Victoria

    Sorry …. non comprende!!!!

I was referring to Bemused’s posts over at Gordons site.

  3. mmmm pizza 🙂

I’m guessing chair of some committee or similar – anyways, something to be proud of I’m sure

  4. Psyclaw,

I hate sounding schoolmarmish, but Joe6Pack (and his fellow mods and rockers entirely agree) wants to cut the inter-blog personal sniping. In other words, it’s fine to go in hard on the “arguments” presented by OM journalists / NM citizen journalists (even though many will still regard an attack on their “argument” as a personal attack, but that’s their problem). However, it’s probably wiser to leave individuals commenting on other sites alone.

  5. psyclaw:

The more interesting take out from that blog is that ‘Gordon’ can’t see what is staring him in the face about the latest Team Abbott stunt. But this is illustrative:

Possum Comitatus January 6, 2013 at 6:54 am Reply
Howard’s comms and strategy folks won ten years of politics with the culture wars by exploiting this same broad dynamic.

Over 10 years ago! I’ve been critical in the past of today’s ALP trying to emulate the Howard era when it never works for them, and here we have Possum seemingly suggesting they do just that with culture war baiting bullshit. The Liberals haven’t won a federal election in 9 years, which gives the lie to the whole culture wars stuff as an election winner for the ALP.

But none of this goes anywhere near the fact that Abbott has a women problem. His CoS seems to recognise it, and instead of trying to forge a career doing dolly PR stuff, is now trying to extricate herself from the mess she’s in part created, by giving herself an exit strategy. THAT’S the take out message. Not Crosby-Textor were genuises FFS.

  6. Thank you from me too, bushfirebill, joe6pack, fiona and C@tmomma. You’ve helped me through a tough Christmas holiday period, confined to the house with limited manual dexterity in a heat wave! My special appreciation of Fiona’s courage and persistence, sharing as I have done the kind of trauma and now discomfort she is experiencing. What a pleasure to follow and occasionally respond to my favorourite PB commentators without the endless scrolling necessitated by the tedious contributions of you know who! I haven’t done much original thinking myself this past fortnight but it’s been a privelege to share this mind space with you all. I look forward to seeing how pbxmastragics continues to compensate for some of the more obvious flaws of the otherwise enjoyable PB.

  7. TLBD,

Milliners say that a hat must suit the face under it. I wonder how the creator of the confection that Ms Credlin wears in one of those pics is feeling …

  8. CTar1,

It has been interesting to watch Ms Gillard grow into the role of Prime Minister. And pleasing.

  9. Jeeeezus Keerist!!!…there’s more farewells here than given by Nellie Melba!….you bastards really are tragics!!!……in saying that…here I am!!??…….too, too tragic.

  10. …actually, I’m only here waithing for a bus!…..(starts to whistle a nonchalant tune).

  11. fiona – You can call her Ms or anything else you lke.

The message is simple – keep the economy stable as you can and snatch every possible step forward.

    It’s not complicated.

  12. BK. Yes……an assorted collection, do you or your partner ride?…..We have three warmbloods and one (rescued) standardbred pony……….what a bunch of hayburners!……The OH rides and competes….I’m the strapper/groom…a sort of “Mellors” of the stable yard!
    ‘What say ; M’Lady?……..Oh! reeahly!!”.

  13. CTar1,

You can call her Ms or anything else you lke.

I made a resolution part way through last year to give the main pollie players the (bare) courtesy of a title. In private, I call them all sorts of things, but I’ve decided that in a public forum politeness is more effective.

I agree with the other points in your post.

My daughter rides the Arab – a 27 year old ripper – and the thoroughbred is an ex racehorse that needs a bit of work.

  15. Patricia,

… sharing as I have done the kind of trauma and now discomfort she is experiencing

That is so kind, but I feel like a complete fraud. Apart from a most uncomfortable few hours before getting to hospital, I’ve had minimal discomfort – apart from when my bladder is killing me and I have to hop to the loo as fast as I can …

    😉

  16. The archiearchive blog (linked to by TLBD and Margo K) is a problem. It refers to “Credlin’s lie ” which is factually incorrect. It was Samantha Maiden’s lie or incompetence, not Credlins.

The authors justification is that he thinks Credlin wrote the piece which is unprovable rubbish and makes him look stupid. This sort of stuff just gives a free kick to the Right.

  17. Philvee,

That’s a good point. Have you thought of commenting to that effect on Aerchie’s blog?

  18. And then there is The Earl…

“RT @janeelot: @TurnbullMalcolm can you tell Tony and Peta that they stink of desperation. #toolate #desperados”

  19. Assad on ABC24 now. Maybe the UN job is to do with settling that and electoral assistance??

  20. fiona:

Thanks. The meta shite from those who should know better is really starting to annoy me.

  21. philvee
It refers to “Credlin’s lie ” which is factually incorrect. It was Samantha Maiden’s lie or incompetence, not Credlins.

Depends on who actually wrote the article 🙂 🙂

  22. Confessions,

Exactly – and it’s the meta shite and its perpetrators that should be (are, I hope) in our cross-hairs.

  23. It will make it a bit hard for him to claim in the future that new media will take over (if that’s his opinion), when you have a basic error of comprehension in figuring out who made that comment, as Archie seems to have made in his blog.

Yes it does matter. As Philvee said, its a free kick.

Someone on twitter made a similar error today, attributing the description “glamazon” to Credlin about herself, rather than as it was by Samantha abut Credlin, so I guess Archie is not alone.

  24. fionajr
    Done! thanks for the advice
(I didn’t realise I could post on there under this log in. D’oh!)

It is easy to pick on Tone, there must be some OH&S or HR people willing to say a boss is misguided at best or brazenly selfish to force a lady to work in a high pressure job through IVF.

  25. BK,

[ The fridge story has gone cold! A fitting end to it. ]

Seems the fridge has run out of gas..
