If so, it’s already in the Daily Telegraph, and Murphy’s opinion isn’t worthy of peeing on.
Puffy
I did not see lateline. Been out all night and noticed that tweet on The Geek’s twitterstream.
If John Murphy is Rudd’s ace in the hole, Rudd’s been dealt a dud hand.
By the way, Victoria, do you always go to water EVERY time there’s some bullshit announcement about a definite, positive, this-time-it’s-gonna-happen-for-sure, ridgy-didge, dinky-di, announcement that some anonymous wanker is going to tap Gillard on the shoulder?
I hope not, because you wouldn’t have had any sleep for the past three years.
I am so sick of rumours about leadershit. Absolutely fed up with them and with anyone who peddles them. Please, CUT IT OUT!
BB
I have not gone to water at all. The party will determine their fate.
Correct. If we relied on Lateline or any other media circus it’d be a long time between drinks till we got some satisfaction;
It’s unbelievable that anyone believes or even takes notice of any of this crap, ESPECIALLY the parts where definite dates are announced and definite anonymous personages are defecting.
I would be very careful re the John Murphy quotes.
They appear to have been edited a bit.
BB and Vic. The party is backing jGil. Over and out
When I slip into the politically aligned rockers, to see Fogerty, Springsteen, Henley and the likes supporting Obama I wonder how inspiring it would be to have that support here. They carry so much cred
I think we all need to settle.
Victoria is only passing on what she was told.
I have only passed on what I was told.
Victoria is not blindly repeating OM rubbish. Neither am I.
It is far different from throwing in the towel.
The whole idea of posting and sharing with others here I thought was to get away from what the OM is saying and get a idea what others perhaps closer to the real world are saying.
Cheers to all.
doyleym
I have already put on the record what my mail has been, and that is, the caucus are currently grappling with the leadership issue. I wont be surprised or perturbed with whatever outcome is forthcoming.
On that note night all
Peter Hartcher has written a very long analysis piece… on Ruddstoration.
For the benefit of tired Pubketeers at this late hour, I have distilled it down to four words:
“He’s full of shit.”
That final picture/ comment re cats and dogs. Anyone who has a cat AND a dog wil have experienced any number of golden moments. Cat chasing dog is right up there
To quote CSN&Y ‘Deja vu’
I have to say something so I can go to sleep, if I offend anyone then tough. I don’t care what your ‘mail’ says or what your friend’s mate who knows someone in Canberra told someone at a dinner party. Nothing is going on with Labor. Surely after three years of this carry-on you’d think everyone would have caught on long ago, but apparently there are some who still get sucked in.
This is a Newspoll weekend and it comes at the end of a week that has not been good for Abbott. Something had to be done so the usual suspects did their usual thing. Lateline did its umpteenth leadershit thing with a few journalists talking to other journalists, all admitting in the end that they knew pretty much nothing anyway. And right on cue Troy Bramston tweeted about a couple of stories in The Oz that he said would have everyone talking about leadership. As Troy pulls this stunt every Newspoll weekend it was sort of predictable.
This regurgitation of the same old same old brought on the usual ‘OMG! She’s going to be asked to step aside’ bullshit. For the eleventieth time we are supposed to believe that a change of leader is about to happen. Sorry, but I’m not interested. I’ve heard those cries of ‘Wolf!’ every weekend and most week days as well for three years now and the bloody wolf has never shown up. I’m not inclined to start believing the crap now.
Repeating this garbage does only one thing – it helps the Dark Side to make Labor look chaotic. If you want to help Labor retain government then stop repeating rumours. Here’s a novel idea – what about talking up the many achievements of this government and our amazing Prime Minister instead of repeating crap. Stop doing what Rupert and Gina and Tony and Brian want you to do and start actually doing something to help Labor instead,

With leadershit again being hawked around (in a week when the PM has utterly demolished her opponents and has had public evidence to back her right through to the Sattler interview) … we need to take hold of they way it is used to manipulate the opinion polls.
It surfaces whenever a poll is due. As to the Murphy thing … yes, well, a Rudd follower and one who is in an erstwhile safe seat now in danger. If he’d bothered to nurture the seat a bit over the past decade, he might have a little more protection against a backlash. I wonder if he’s even noticed in his home state that the leadership rotation didn’t work too well.
Anyways … Socks made a wonderful link last night which ought to be required reading

leone and whoever else has the shits,
I passed on some discussion last night I had with some friends of mine.
Nothing more, nothing less.
I never sought to stir leadership or fuel any angst about leadership issues.
It was posted simply to show what some people think about the OM rubbish about divided caucus.
The people I was talking too last night were of the view that caucus was behind the PM.
I passed that information on as I thought it may be of interest with all the rubbish being put out by the OM.
I thought it would be a positive.
That is why I posted.
Not to stir, not to parrot the OM rubbish but simply as a matter of interest.
If people are unhappy with hearing what others are saying on certain matters then please print a list of what we can talk about.
Fair dinkum, some people should grow a pair.
Enough for now otherwise I may tell you leone and others to stick it.
PMJG will lead the party to the next election.
However, I will stick to the real world and not waste my time here in some circle jerk with those who seem to go weak at the knees at shadows.
Mon of weak pricks.
Could someone do me a favour and go to Jack the Insider’s self-indulgent blog full of arsehattery and tell the superannuated ‘funny man’ political commentator, that ‘Campaign Mode’ DOES NOT EQUAL ‘Attack Mode’ ?
I’d do it but I don’t want my computer to catch a virus. 😉
I’ve always had a sneaking suspicion about male comedians, that the worst of them had to go trawling for yucks at the expense of women. Yes, denigrating women is so easy, why not do it and get people laughing along with us, because, they’ll be too embarrassed to fight back, and, if they do, then we can get some more yucks for ourselves by calling them, ‘hairy-legged lesbians’!
WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT JACK THE PATHETIC INSIDER IS DOING!
By seeking to justify Howard Sattler’s sleazy questions directed to the Prime Minister about her and ‘Tim the Hairdresser’s’ sexuality, he is pulling the same trick. He is demeaning the Prime Minister, yet again, by giving a helping hand to Howard, and playing the ‘Hairy-Legged Lesbian’ card. Not only that but the other go-to line for C Grade Comedians, the ‘Homosexual Hairdresser’ card wrt Tim Mathieson. Then, as do most homophobic, sexist, C Grade Comedians, casts around for an over-arching justification to excuse it all and cover his arse and the arses of those who laugh along with him. In this case he is saying that it is OK for Sattler to ask the Prime Minister these questions because the PM put the country into ‘Campaign Mode’ (?) and hence that equates to ‘Open Season on Julia Gillard’ ???
As Bushfire Bill says, all these old school journalists, and I use the word advisedly, are like scum. They all stick together and coalesce around each other when they are prodded. Such as in this instance, where their consciences should have been pricked into a reassessment of how low should they go when addressing this Prime Minister with their questions, and what are the red lines they should not cross. That is, what is the level of propriety they must responsibly show because of the positions of power of public perception which they hold in trust for us.
Or, at least that’s how it used to be.
Instead, what we seem to have now are unfunny ‘Funny Men’, like ‘Jack the Insider’ and John Birmingham, legends in their own internet rooms full of suck-up, spit-down acolytes, being at the forefront of debasing community standards. Finding the form of words for their editors to get people like Howard Sattler out of a tight spot.
And like every C Grade Comedian in the world, they are only too happy to oblige the venue owner with what he wants. Because there’s no other way that they could ever keep the gig they have. They are not funny any more. Just offensive. And reduced to singing for their supper.
I always felt sorry for that sort of comedian. Still do. The problem is, some of them actually seem to have gotten to the stage of enjoying demeaning Lesbians, Homo Hairdressers and Women, just as much as their audiences.
That’s why I no longer feel sorry for them. I despise them for what they are doing.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but while watching the “Friday Forum” on Lateline w/ Alberichi, Murphy and Coorey..I was becoming more and more outraged!…with every “knowing guffaw”, with every “analytical context”…with every “nudge, nudge, wink-wink”…I could see that with the MSM. we have a third “player” in the political arena.
An unelected third party in the room..besides the conservatives, the progressives, we now have the “Concubine Courtiers”….the “Keepers of the Context” circulating around from party to party to public commentary, inserting a bit of suspicion here, a bit of a “Chinese Whisper” there and all the while “sighing in mock surprise” at the political cynicism pervading in the main parties…..Low filth!….low, low, filth!
I said months ago that perhaps it would be a good idea to single out these MSM. journos’ and seek public submissions of rumour, innuendo and salacious scandal to totally destroy each and every one of them…perhaps THAT was going a tad too far…but I believe the gov’t has to reintroduce media laws to bring these rogue cowboys under a moral and ethical umbrella…a thing they do not seem capable of implementing off their own back!
doyleym,
Now is not the time for back-biting. Now is the time for standing together and fighting the common enemy. Leonetwo, I think, just kind of meant that, I think.
(Oh, I’ll probably cop it too now) 🙂
jaycee,
What took you so long to come to THAT conclusion? 😀
I could never figure out why Parliament House was never fitted out with deep velvet curtains along the corridors for them all to lurk behind. 😉
Good morning everyone.
Doyleym,
We are just a bunch of people, like thinkers but who react differently to whatever is posted by whom. I’m sure that all of us, including Leone and others who get the shits over the repeated leadershit nonsense, all have different ways of trying to protect their sanity in this climate of absolute and utter bile flinging dished out to us via the media and those that inhabit the cesspits of our society.
For me, words cannot express the despair I feel at the degrading and schizophrenic discourse into which this country of ours has fallen. We need to know about it, hear it and confront it as a collective of people who rise up with one voice to shout down this vermin that is threatening us all.
doyley

For reference, here’s how most people saw the political week:
1. Menugate – Coalition confirm, apologise, then deny.
2. Indonesia reaffirm No Towbacks.
3. Televised debate between Shorten and Abetz
4. Unemployment down 0.1%
5. Sattler totally out of line with PM, gets sacked
6. Sexism far and away hottest issue of the week
Here’s how the overseas press saw the week in Australia:
1. Male-dominated culture indulges in bullying of PM, females
Here’s how the Australian press saw the week:
1. Rudd
.
.
.
.
2. Gillard once called Hockey fat, so let’s have none of this sexist nonsense, ladies.
I think the Guardian Australia mad a gross mistake in hiring those OM.
journos. They would have been much better served in starting fresh with a seleted few of the “New Writers” from the Fifth Estate. Sure, the “appraoch” may be stranger than what they were used to..The “context” may be out of line to the usual “context”…and the syntax may seem stranger to the usual pedantic method..but at least they would have a new vision to build on..a frech and perhaps scintillating view of the “new Audience” who wants a different perspective and a brighter and more intellectual construct to every day news.
Instead, they have chickened out to opt for the window sash to open inwards to another darkened room, when they could just as easy made it so that same window opened to a brand new day, with a sparkling new perspective!……..The Guardian is the loser!
Where the f**k have I resorted to back biting.
I posted last night some friends of mine told that they believed caucus was behind the PM.
I thought it would be a positive amongst all the rubbish being sprouted.
Nothing more, nothing less.
A simple post reflecting on what had come up in conversation.
If people want to get the shits over leadership fair enough but I will not stand back and just accept crap posts such as the one posted at 1.57am by leone.
leone,
grow a back bone.
If you cannot accept the posting of positive feedback then what the f**k would you like posted to ensure you do not get a case of the shits ?
Anyway, I have had enough of responding to weak as piss posts.
Time to get a life.
Who can tell 100% what the result will be after Sept.14th?
The reality is we just don’t know.
If you do know, then write out a contract or something that is legally binding to sell your house and donate the proceedings to a charity if you get it wrong.
A poor example but you get my drift.
The other reality is we have everything stacked up against us. Money, the judiciary and the police forces and the media. None of them are going to change their allegiances before the election.
So this is what we are facing.
The analogy to Australian troops engaging in various battles through our short history may sound a bit corny but I think it reflects what we are facing now.
We are under strength; we are overwhelmed in numbers; some in our ranks are questioning why we are in this predicament and some are cowards.
But we ‘ve got some things our opponents don’t have.
We have resilience and determination. We know that what we are doing is right.
We believe in what we are doing.
The Treasurer’s budget speech to me was one of those moments that crystallised everything.
We have a soul. We know what we stand for and what we believe in and those things are worth fighting for.
The next 3 moonths is going to be even tougher.
All sorts of bombs will be thrown against us and at times we will waver. But we will remain firm.
I say we stand and we don’t give in.
I can also summarise how Twitter saw the week:
1. Your (sic) an idiot.
2. No, your an idiot
3. Here’s an unfunny one-liner apropos of nothing
I like Twitter, and that’s probably unfair to a lot of good contributors. But as a summary I don’t think it’s far off the mark.
C@tmomma
That is what I was trying to say, and I couldn’t get to sleep until I’d said it, I was so annoyed by the crap being repeated here that it all kept going around in my head and keeping me awake.
To spread leadership rumours, whether they are good news or bad news, just adds to the impression that there is a problem where we know none exists.
For example – this morning on Sky Agenda Chris Kenny has been joined by Ed Husic, Samantha Maiden and Kelly O’Dwyer to discuss ‘Our national political shambles’. See what I mean? The usual suspects make the usual Newspoll weekend remarks, as they have every Newspoll weekend for three years and the OM leap to agree, dragging in the usual suspects to talk up the usual dross and drivel. If you pass around rumours which cannot be backed up then you are simply helping these fools.
We know there is no ‘political shambles’ unless it’s in the Coalition. Why not talk up Abbbott’s very obvious leadership problems? Start a few rumours about his liking for captain’s picks that has his party room worried. Talk up he way his front benchers are unable to follow the party line on pretty much everything, instead they are going off on frolics of their own and making conflicting statements. Talk about the oh-so-obvious knife sharpening by Turnbull and Hockey.
By the way – did any of you even notice my post about the EU carbon price last night? I thought not. Leadershit is so much more important, isn’t it.
doyleym,
Maybe I should have made myself clearer. I wasn’t referring to you specifically, I was making the comment as a general, do we really have to take potshots at each other, for whatever reason, kind of way. It doesn’t advance the cause of keeping ourselves united. That’s all. Nothing personal.
A couple of interesting pieces on New Matilda:

2/ The future of renewables under a future Coalition government: http://newmatilda.com/2013/06/13/turbulent-times-ahead-renewables
leonetwo,
And I’m betting Sky didn’t even discuss that is the true shambles, exposed like a bare bum, which is the Coalition’s increasingly threadbare Border Protection/Asylum Seeker/Xenophobia policy?
I’d bet my house on it.
leone,
I see you are around
Answer me this.
What are we allowed to post on this site ?
If positive feedback upsets you then what would you like posted ?
I am really interested just in case I post anything that may offend you.
I noticed it, Leone. In fact, if it hadn’t been for your post I would not have known about it at all. Belated thanks.
I’m not noticing the leadershit all that much anyway. I’m so far removed from newspapers, radio reportage, TV coverage and general ‘news’ (I use the term advisedly) that I’m only really cottoning onto it via what I read here. I dip in and out every now and then; but it’s always the same and always out-of-kilter. I don’t need it.
There’s one thing I’ve learnt: if there’s ever a leadership spill, the MSM is the last place I’m going to find out about it, unless it’s already over. They don’t know a thing. I have no use for them, simple as that. I’m not on the market for opinions, I have enough of my own. And I can get information direct from the source in most cases. Unless a newspaper can provide me with something I can’t get anywhere else, – and all they provide is rumours and received opinion, neither of which I need – why should I bother?
Ye Gods! The Age has got a ‘Click on this if you want to bring back Kevin’ poll!
Sorry, leonetwo, for bringing this up but it’s verging on the ridiculous in the Alzheimers Media now. I’m over calling it the Old Media. They’ve lost the plot entirely!
Anyway, if you want to vote for Julia, go here:
so do sky so called reporers have twitter

The Rudd supporters are extremely popular in the media. Lyndal Curtis loves interviewing them. Yesterday it was C Bowen, the other day it was E Husic, N Champion or that silly J Hall; and then there are the ambivalent G Brodtmann and Steven Jones … You can see that they are allies. They’re all anti-Gillard, so it suits that L Curtis fine.
doyleym
Post what you like, just don’t post stale news or rumours.
We all knew months ago – years actually, that Caucus was in support of Julia Gillard. By saying what you did last night – ‘it will be hard’, ‘the only chance the party has is stick with Julia’ and all that other not-news about what would happen if Labor changed leaders now you were not only saying stuff we have known for yonks and have said countless times, over and over in here (Didn’t you ever notice?) you were also giving the impression that there was a problem where none actually exists. Then you went further and named the alleged shoulder-tapper, making yourself part of the rumour-mongering.
Please don’t tell me to grow a set or grow a spine. At my age I’ve heard every insult there is and I take no notice. Just stop rumour mongering.
Be tolerant of each other, guys.
We’re all on the same side, but not everyone will have exactly the same opinion on all issues. And that’s ok – surely we’re all rational mature individuals who can accept diversity, not cardboard cutouts.
doyleym, I for one appreciated you passing on what you’re hearing from your friends and on twitter, that contradicts the current OM meme.
leonetwo, on the other hand, I can also understand that the constant bombardment on ‘leadershit’ from the OM is enough to make anyone tear their hair out.
The main thing though is that we’re all headed in much the same direction, even if we have slightly different paths to our common destination.
Leadershit! Leadershit! Leadershit! I can state categorically that joe6pack will not, and I stress NOT, be replaced by bushfirebill.
However, keep an eye on c@tmomma… you know what those women are like, eh?!
leone,
How the hell is passing on positive feed back about caucus being behind the PM rumour.mongering ?
It came out of a conversation I had with friends for christs sake.
So no one is allowed to report any conversation they had with friends or others ?
So anytime cat@momma wants to let us know what the feel is out in the real world instead of simply what the OM are spewing she should shut up because it is only fueling rumour mongering ?
Anytime someone hears some praise for the PM or how they prefer her to anyone else leading the party that should not be posted because it is fueling rumour mongering ?
Can you not see how stupid that is ?
Before anything can be posted here it must be run through the leone rumour mill testing system to ensure it is ok to post ?
It seems as far as you are concerned we should just live in a pub bubble and feed off what others say here and ignore anything that comes from outside in case it is just rumour mongering.
Can you not see how stupid that is ?
BTW,
Show me where I told you to grow a set.
If you cannot then shove it up your arse.
Settle people, please. there is a lot of steam builsing up. Let’s not scald each other.
