  1. Anyone want to start a revolution and overthrow the government? It’s been done before – no, not the French – so we might be able to get some tips on how to go about it.
Icelanders Overthrow Government and Rewrite Constitution After Banking Fraud-No Word From US Media

Oddly, our mainstream media never said a word, just like the American MSM.

The pots and pans revolution in Iceland was not covered by mainstream U.S. media. In fact, any information about this revolution is found only on international newspapers, blogs and online documentaries, not on mainstream front-page articles as would be expected from news organizations covering a story of this magnitude. The New York Times published a small handful of piecemeal stories, blogs and opinion pieces, but mostly glossed over the main narrative by saying the 2008 financial collapse in Iceland caused “mayhem far beyond the country’s borders” rather than pointing out that Icelanders took to the streets with pots and pans and forced their entire government to resign

  2. A handy collection of front pages, looks like Richard Farmer, who’ve I recently started following on twitter does this everyday, as well as posting various links. A good follow, for those of you on twitter.

  4. On an animal theme, this is special.
“After two decades, two former circus elephants, Jenny and Shirley, are reunited at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. The reunion is a bittersweet moment for everyone involved. Watch to see the emotional encounter and response of the two friends.”

Razz and I just watched the video about what they are doing in Iceland, we hope that it works for them, and if it does it won’t take them generations to pay back the debt as they will all be pulling together.

  6. Ségolène Royal:

“I have charisma, an aura, weight. In the government, I would have put them in the shade,” she is cited as saying.

“I would have brought parliament alive,”

A very strong and confident politician. These statements could have been made by Julia Gillard, except Julia was not pretentious at all.

Whoa there. A bit too much of them Slavic nations let in to the map. I’m sure it will be PyneOkleened away. Then there are those gay marriage loving Spaniards and assorted goddam ” liberal” US states which need removal. Portugal , Switzerland and Holland’s drug crazed laws should see them wiped off the map also. Then the climate change “believers” need scrubbing .By golly there ain ‘t going to much left apart from PMBO’s ‘Straya and Alabama.
    .
AND !!!! Oi where is New Zealand ? 😆

  8. leonetwo

It’s been relocated to Manly. Can’t have it in a “musso” country don’t ya know 😦

  9. kaffeeklatscher
Of course. how silly of me to look where it used to be.

I suppose Jerusalem and Bethlehem are now in the electorates of North Sydney and Mackellar. We can’t have kids being given compulsory religious indoctrin…..oops – education if the key sites of their faith are in places inhabitied by brown people and mussos.

  10. Gravel,
    Awwww!

    Kaffeeklatscher,
Moi is just the messenger …

    Leone,
    Heaven forfend.

    We really are astray.

    I dunno. Ask Corgi!

  13. Will there be a science curriculum?

We know how highly The Idiot regards science. Just ask his Minister for Science.

  14. This little black duck

His ministerial Oaf for Wimmin would back up his “minister for science”

  15. Very good article from the Financial Times’ magazine on Libya, which unlike most of the paper isn’t paywalled, which I think is also the case with the rest of the life & arts section. May apply to some other areas, but all the regular news is securely paywalled.

  16. Has anyone with concerns for the concept of Judeo-Christian values that Pyne puts so much faith in?

  17. Fed Up,
I have grave concerns. Pyne’s, Donnelly’s, and Pells notions of Judeo-Christian “values” bear little resemblance to the teachings of Jesus as presented in the gospels.

What’s more, IF Jesus existed and visited Australia today, it’s debatable which would happen first: his removal to Nauru or Manus Island, or his booting this particular mob of moneylenders out of the place.

  18. So PMBO is back on holiodays today. He must be, Wazza is acting PM.
Acting PM pays tribute to Sharon
    http://www.theage.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/acting-pm-pays-tribute-to-sharon-20140112-30og6.html

Abbott’s ‘holidays’ seem to be very flexible. He’s on holidays and can’t respond to the death of Sharon, but he’s not on holidays when he wants to be a guest on 2GB or when the cricketers offer a photo opportunity and a chance for a blokey speech. It seems Abbott is only around for the trivia. the really hard work that comes with being PM is palmed off to someone else.

  19. Judeo-Christian values seems to mean hatred of gays, atheists, Muslims, single mothers and abortion. Oh, and science. Science is evil.

  20. AJ,

    Science is evil

It certainly is. It makes us question, analyse, use rational thinking. That will never do.

  21. I had a good laugh at Bernardi’s (and by association and instruction, Abbott’s) not at all Christian view that programs like the Red Cross’s Good Start Breakfast Club should be abolished because they remove parental responsibility and create a mentality that the state will provide.

Bernardi has been working on a rewrite of the Gospel of St Matthew, Chapter 14, verses 15 and 16. Here’s a peek at the new, Abbott/Bernardi version of the gospel.
Chapter 14 – The Refusal to Feed a Single Person –
15 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.
16 But Jesus said unto them, “They were irresponsible to come out here without a picnic supper. or even so much as a Kit Kat and a bottle of Evian. Let the silly buggers starve. We don’t want them thinking I’ll supply their every need.”

  22. Bob Ellis at Independent Australia:

… we did not vote for a fresh History War; or a Cold War with Indonesia, with ‘border incidents’ that could flare up some day into a real war. We did not vote for a doctor consultation co-payment, a cutback on Disability Care, a cancelling of Gonski, or less money for our old age.

We were not just lied to about these things, but lied to by crazies with no stealth or guile or, apparently, propaganda skills.

They are on 40 per cent already and heading south by the day, though Newspoll after Newspoll will be suppressed or tweaked to hide their oncoming avalanche into oblivion, and the Senate should move to bring them down, while they have the numbers, by threatening Supply, or an Inquiry into the war in Iraq, or Pyne’s complicity in the framing of Slipper.
