  1. I found this, about Julia Gillard’s accomodation in Canberra –
“Upon her election by the Labor Party, Gillard said that she wouldn’t move into The Lodge until she was elected Prime Minister in her own right, instead choosing to divide her time between a flat in Canberra and her home in Altona, a western suburb of Melbourne.[57] Gillard moved into The Lodge on 26 September 2010.[58]”
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julia_Gillard

Ms Gillard’s Register of Interests shows a flat in Kingston, listed as an investment property and the sale of that property earlier this year.

I can’t find any mention of her staying at the AFP place, or any word about where Abbott stayed in Canberra.

  2. She may have moved from her unit at some point but I remember a Police car being parked permanently on the left side of Wentworth Ave at the Eyre St intersection.

  3. There’s this news clip from July 2012 where JG was moving out of the Lodge due to renovations, and at the same time substantially increasing the security on her Melbourne home.

However, there’s also this article in December 2012:

A letter from the Special Minister of State, Gary Gray, advised her that the refurbishment, which was to start in April, will be put off because investigations revealed the work was likely to run into ”significant technical challenges”.

  4. Talk about sheep and that old NZ. thing!…I remember when I was “reading classics” at Adelaide Uni…doing a spot of Latin…we had to translate from the latin a bit of Homer, where the Cyclops leads his flock of sheep into his cave to sleep with him at night….I ad-libbed an addition and inserted..: “…ah!, he said..I shall call this cave ; New Zealand!”….I wasn’t to know the lecturer’s parents were NZ. sheep farmers!…….score..; zero!

A child hates being ignored. So whatever is happening, just ignore her and she’ll either pull her head in or go away. I’m sure you’ll cope. Good luck.

Might I suggest many replays of Barbie and the Pink Shoes? It works a treat on the three year old grand-daughter.

  7. jaycee,

You were a boughty noy! Pity some ….. (substitute any nationality here) don’t have a sense of humour.

  8. I can’t believe “out Tones” even would want a bed to sleep in at night….whhhy a tough nut like him would be happy with a couple of old wheat-bags in an open 44gallon drum!….geeez, Tony…; man up!

  9. “Yaycee” / grayel

She is a typical second child. And many times they are very able to ride.

6 hour’s or so and I’m over parenting again … for now.

In my younger days (half a century ago or more) I’d occasionally read my mother’s magazine, New Idea. I used to enjoy the letters posted on the Mere Male Page. I remember one writer impressed with way her Mere Male (MM) solved the dilemma of how to cope with a small child.

When she arrived home she was amused to find MM inside the playpen reading a book, with the child outside the playpen unable to bother him.

Maybe 5 years-old might be a bit old for the same trick, but if you ever get stuck with another younger one …

  11. I suppose it’s not beyond the realms of fantasy to suggest that ” bloodoaf ” and his equally useless cohorts are getting urgent, comprehensive lessons in the governance of a trillion dollar plus economy.Being a respected, till now, participant in the world geopolitic. Understanding the onerous responsibilities of being a nation that has the capacity to engage others to the betterment of all. Not to mention the 23 million or so citizens they have signed on to protect.

I dread having to wait for the repercussions of the unintended consequences that these mob of buffoons will unleash. The only bright point is that I don’t think I’ll be waiting too long.

  12. Knowing Mesma’s penchant for plagiarising, I fear Michele Bachmann may be her role model as she enters the international stage:

    Ian….bad news mate….it IS!

  14. I am going to have one huge regret with this term of govt’…..that I didn’t sign on with the “Comedy Warehouse” and use the upcoming material to make a fortune in comedy theatre!

  15. …cause, let’s face it…the goofyness of the Abbott front bench could, as a commedian, get you riotous applause or get you killed!

  16. gd
God help us! Mesma is never going to achieve the lofty heights of international diplomacy reached by Ms Bachmann.

  17. GD. Just wait till she opens her mouth at an interview and declares in her confected strine…; “Yairs!…It’s Ahmaarnee” !

  18. I’m hearing runours that Abbott is not doing well at organising his front bench. The delay is because the Nats are making demands about portfolios and are threatening to walk if they don’t get what they want. Only rumours, of course……….

You would think this mob would have been all set up and ready to leap straight into action. Didn’t they say they were ‘ready to govern’? They have had three years to negotiate and sort out which party gets what and yet they have not bothered. The Coalition negotiation skills must be incredibly poor.

[ The Coalition negotiation skills must be incredibly poor. ]
You have seen the Menzies House chaps and yes they all seem to be chaps over at the PB lounge . How ya reckon that style would go at the negotiation table ? 😆

  21. Practically any world Leader could teach TA a few things. My advice to him would be to start with NZ’s PM. At least with him there wouldn’t be any language problem, or possible misinterpretations – as they so often have been with the Indonesian President – at least one would think not. The trouble is, TA might be slow to learn anything, and would quite likely return from his trip, looking even sillier than before he departed. Worst of all, we’d have the refined J Key shaking his head in disbelief at all of us Aussies.

I doubt we’ll ever have, in this new government, a decent Lib, of the same mould as JK.

  22. Things finished well for the fair maid of Perth, according to Bizet. I have no such expectations of Mesma.

  23. There was a pollie; Mirabella,
    Exclaimed in frustration ; “Bloody-ella!”.
She’d been ‘done’ at the polls,
In the courts ; lost the Rolls’…
Thank Christ for the old bloke in the cellar!

  24. For those querying where Abbott stayed in Canberra before the Election (if you haven’t already found out),Gippsland Laborite posted at 1.33a,m,, A link to an article in the Telegraph. It states he stayed at the 5 star Hotel Realm.

  25. It may be stereotype confirming but this really is prime time TV stuff n NZ. Yes, I did like it too 🙂

  26. Tone, Scoot and Mesma have done the nearly impossible: put Indonesia’s hackles up before even being in government.

    Tears before bedtime, I think.

  27. If Julie Bishop did not give a feck about Australians dying from mesothelioma they why on earth would anyone expect her to care about foreign non white types ?

  28. No worries Janice, John has moved to wholistic management with small paddocks and short rotations of his sheep through them so that grazing is more like natural ‘graze and move on’ systems. There are long term benefits for the environment as well as reduced chemical use for fertilising, herbicides and veterinary purposes.
Besides which his sheep dog was killed by a snake and he couldn’t be bothered getting a new one!
