Good eveninig to all patrons and welcome to another fun filled Friday Night at “THE PUB”
There will be music, laughter, dancing and of course the getting more famous by the week “FRIDAY NIGHT RAFFLES.
Come in have a drink,,chat up the barmaids if you wish they won,t mind in fact I suspect they would be annoyed if they weren’t getting chatted up.
Drinks are free on Friday,s just ask for your tipple and it will be cheerfully supplied, just don,t overindulge and get nasty as we have the best bouncers in town keeping a watchful eye out.
A big week for “THE PUB” as we now ( thanks to MR. Bushfirebill ) joined the ranks of the tweeters or tweeterate or what ever they are called. https://twitter.com/ThePubBlog.
Join in for all you users and we will grow and improve that as we go along. I am in the process of trying to link it to the main blog so bear with me on that.
On Another note are there any rugby league supporters that would be interested in joining a footy tipping competition? IF I get enough takers I’ll set something up,Same goes for the AFL.
If we get a comp.up and running I.ll work out a prize for the winner at the end of the season .
A thank you also to the patrons that have offered suggestions on how we can improve the looks/layout of the blog. All suggestions are welcome as we are by no means experts at this and all ideas will be considered.
So Drink up ,Have Fun and remember

Good Morning All!
Thanks to victoria for hashing out the concept of the big announcement by the PM tomorrow and the link today to the Mark Kenny piece, which I found a bit disingenuous considering all governments in my living memory have always funded large infrastructure, or other large policy initiatives, on an ongoing, as opposed to lump sum, basis.
Still, it suits his ‘narrative’ that everything this government does is wrong. Even if it sounds good on first blush, there has to be something wrong with it because….Labor and Julia Gillard, as Anne Summers said. 🙂
foreverjanice,
Are you in the area of the Upper Hunter that is going to flood now?
brianmcisme,
Yes, Howard’s decade left this country’s people destitute of reason and good will towards each other. The mind boggles at the very thought of what it will be
afterif Abbott and Co get their hands on the Treasury benches.fionaj,
What a lovely story(with pictures!) of your exploits as a Chorist. Such a pity that you no longer do it, but I am sure, that if you no longer have the voice of an angel, that you still have the bearing of one. 🙂
C@t,
No floods in my neck of the woods – further to the east of me is Singleton and Maitland and they are pretty well always in the line of fire when it comes to flooding.
janice
My dream is that the PM will make some type of annoucements tomorrow that will have the political class having an apoplexy. Truly I do
Sorry, janice, but the blog fairies just had to modify your last comment. Such pessimism is not allowed! 😉
So, you’re not near the Hastings River or Dungog? I always thought that was Dairying land?
c@tmomma
Hope the govt has something up their sleeve that will be a circuit breaker. The spinning being done by them at present is making me ill
Oops spinning being done by the msm
victoria,
I think the PM HAS TO make a big announcement tomorrow, or the mockers will go into overdrive.
Perhaps this could be Julia’s anthem for Sunday evening’s address.
janice,
Just had a look at my weather radar and west of Maitland looks like it’s getting some rain. I hope you are too. But no flooding. 🙂
c@tmomma
Excuse my ignorance, but what part of Western Sydney is Badgerys Creek close to?
What do you know; I finally posted a song properly!!!
Well done brian!!
brianmcisme,
I don’t think the PM is into laments. 🙂
c@tmomma
Thanks for the map. I know my ignorance is still showing, but it appears to be in the middle of nowhere!!
Btw I found another recent piece on Badgerys Creek
A SECOND airport site at Wilton to the south-west of Sydney would not work and governments need to start planning for a site at Badgerys Creek, according to the aviation and tourism industries.
The latest call to revive planning for a Badgerys Creek airport comes from the Tourism and Transport Forum, whose members include Sydney Airport, which has repeatedly argued another Sydney airport is not necessary.

These are better and relate to the 2nd Sydney Airport:
victoria,
The ‘middle of nowhere’ is good for an airport! 😀
But it’s not that far away from civilization actually. 🙂
Great piece by Mia Freedman
[Yesterday, Coalition spokesperson on immigration, Scott Morrison made some cynical, appalling and patently untrue suggestions about against asylum seekers.
He was joined almost immediately by Senator Eric Abetz who did some even more distasteful dog whistling, in a revolting attempt to rustle up fear, anxiety and hatred.
What’s that smell? Oh that’s right. It’s the smell of an election year. And it’s putrid]

C@t,
I live in the Upper Hunter where the coal mines are running rampant across the land, squeezing the life out of small communities and destroying their livelihoods. Muswellbrook is now an island in the middle of the open-cut mines and the mountains of overburden run all the way to Singleton to the east and if King Coal gets it way, the same will happen on the western side with a string of proposed new mines in the pipeline.
Thanks C@tmomma
I have a good perspective on it now. Let’s see if tomorrow does bring an annoucement.
Out and about for a while this morning. Catch you guys later
Tony wright has written a lovely piece today. Not sure if BK had linked it earlier, but worth reposting
REFUGEES, barely more than boys, worked on our family farm when I was a child. Not one of them spoke anything approaching ”all the English language skills that you might normally expect”. They were Italians – and later, a Hungarian. In our remote rural district, they might as well have come from another planet.

Definitely off for now ciao!!
Janice, on the rare occasions we drive through Singleton and on towards Muswellbrook (a region that back in the 60’s was beautiful), we call it Mordor.
People can sure make a mess of things in their quest for progress and money.
Good Morning
I will be out most of the day but will return this evening hopefully .
I am closing this thread and redirecting you back to the previous thread.
Have a good day.
RETURN TO THREAD…
