It’s been a long hard hot week.
You have all done sterling work fighting the good fight against a rabid stunt pulling, attention seeking lunatic and his band of unmerry sidekicks, court jesters, jabba the hut impersonators, bug eyed evil women etc.
Time to kick back, relax have a few cleansing ales with friends, sip a red while discussing the finer points of fruit trees, have a white while talking about bees and beekeeping, sip a scotch while talking about your travels to Scotland,I’m sure you get the idea.
You are among friends here with lovely ever so attractive bar staff, a fairly talkative manager and a very lucky publican to have such wonderful help.
You can argue differing points of view in the happy knowledge that you wont be glassed, ganged up on or belittled for your points of view. WE take a very dim view of that sort of behavior.
Put up your favorite you tube clip be it music, sports or of course anything aviation related may get you a free drink.
Being as it is almost a Friday Night pub tradition I am pleased to announce that we will be having a
“FRIDAY NIGHT MYSTERY RAFFLE”
From 6.00pm till 7.00pm just ask for three numbers between 1-100,you can choose your own as it’s to hard to have a e-raffle book.
If your number or numbers are already taken you can ask for different ones, the earlier you apply the more chance of securing your numbers. The draw will take place sometime shortly after 7.00pm .
So join in everyone, and this is a good chance for any of you lurkers out there that wish to pop in and say hello to do so.
The prize will be announced when the winner is announced as the bloke who will be doing the announcing has got enough nounce to know what it is yet,but it will be something SPECTACULAR.
Come in, relax and enjoy the friendly atmosphere of “THE PUB”

HaveAChat and Paddy2. Thanks for dropping by!
The boss is a bit of a dud, he folded early. 😀
Some more music to be sending you off to the land of nod:
I’m working a double shift typing up my next post. 😦
[That pic of Abbott at the lodge s a classic.]
Took me a while to get, but get it I did,
As you say, classic.
Before I go it would be rude not to respond to your question. I believe I have seen all or most of Tom Waits movie appearance and I think their are about 30 of them, some not credited and others as small parts.
I believe his last was 7 Psychopaths but I am not sure if that has been released in Australia and before that the Book of Eli, he has also been in a few shorts and the voice in a number of animated movies/shorts and not to mention those movies he has written the music for.
I don’t actively follow his films unless they are in a genre that interests me, I did like Down by Law, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (Heath Leggers last film), Play in the field of lords and Cold feet, oh and short cuts.
Daniel Andrews does pop up on the news a fair amount of times, although since Baillieu hardly ever does anything, the news here mostly focuses on the loud show that is Federal politics.
He’s doing a lot of background work at the moment to get ready for 2014, and is expected to start the next phase of the campaign around mid-year.
So far Vic Labor has released a large policy document of its jobs and growth plans.
Kezza2, I wasn’t knocking Antastacia earlier, she is an extremely nice person and has a great ability. Unfortunately with only 7 MPs Labor the workload on each of them is huge. The media might attack Newman and his cronies at the moment becasue it sells papers which increases their income, but that doesn’t mean they are giving her much of any opportunity to give the Labor message.
What is needed in opposition is a head kicker to show we are not going to be browbeaten by Newman. That person would not necessarily be the person who leads into the next state election and present the policies to the voters. I also would not like to think of her as the sacrificial goat.
Also, since winning the Melbourne by-election against all odds, Victorian Labor has had a big morale boost and feels like it can change its strategy.
Shadow ministers are doing most of the work in attacking the L/NP government, while Andrews is busy selling what Labor stands for.
So far it’s working pretty well, Labor is in the lead on polls.
How does posting youtube stuff work? Here is the kind of stuff I like…
And can I just add, as there is next to no one around, Fran Barlow can take her ‘Teachable Moments’ on PB and stick ’em. How patronising that woman is.
By george, I think you’ve got it! Btw, I like that sort of stuff too. Queens of the Stone Age anyone? The White Stripes. I could go on. Maybe next Friday. 🙂
What has Fran been up to now? Is there a post number?
Well that was easy… the youtube is there… but it refuses to work 🙂
My view on Fran is that she is probably right, but I have never bothered to read past the first sentance… so I can’t verify that fact 🙂
I assume she is on a higher plain… which isn’t very engaging 😀
Oh, so now it works and makes me look a fool 😀

Sorry, chaps, wasn’t having a go, just saying the Anastascia was a lot more known that any other State Labor leader.
Off the top of my head
NSW BOF, Robertson, just (cos he’s a faceless (bald) man)
Vic, Baillieu. Andrews, actually I would have barely known except I take an interest. He really needs to lift his game. I’m from Victoria.

Sweeping powers for abuse inquiry
BY: DAVID CROWE, NATIONAL AFFAIRS EDITOR
From: The Australian
January 12, 2013 12:00AM
SWEEPING legal powers have been granted to the royal commission into child sexual abuse, in a move to hear from as many victims as possible, despite victims’ concerns about waiving confidentiality deeds on events dating back decades.
The powers will be backed by legislative changes within weeks to maximise the commission’s ability to hold hearings across the country, including “informal” sessions to hear from those who are wary of courtroom formalities.

Growing cabinet push for dole rise
BY: PATRICIA KARVELAS
From: The Australian

THE Gillard government has begun modelling a suite of measures to assist those on unemployment benefits, amid a growing cabinet push to deliver an increase to the Newstart Allowance payment in this year’s budget.
The move is designed to help the most vulnerable people on Newstart, including single mothers who were forced on to the payment after Labor tightened eligibility for the single-parent payment.

Tony Abbott won’t gain much bounce in carbon tax stance
From: The Australian
January 12, 2013 12:00AM
THE carbon tax has failed to incite a tsunami of complaints from the public, with new data from the consumer watchdog indicating Labor’s policy may have fallen off the public radar.
But, hey, what does he mean by:
You can check out any time you want, but you can never leave.
Labor it is.
This song has an infantile “up yours” quality that I should really reserve for when the ALP are ahead in the polls…
Night Kezz2. Remember, sit in the back seat. See you back soon.

hate to be a heathen, but what is frangelico?”
It is yum yum yum.
“Frangelico is a traditional hazelnut liqueur – enjoyed neat, over ice, with coffee or in a wide variety of stylish cocktails.
Produced in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, its origins date back more than 300 years to the presence of early Christian monks living in the hills of the area.
Their skills in fine food and drink would have included the art of distilling, especially the use of the wild hazelnuts and other local ingredients to create a liqueur on which Frangelico is based today.
Its name is also part of the same local legend – an abbreviation of Fra. Angelico, a hermit monk believed to have inhabited the magnificent Piedmont hills during the 17th century.
The Frangelico bottle is an immediate reminder of this distinctive history. Shaped like a monk’s habit, with a traditional rope belt around its waist, it is a guarantee of authenticity and quality that links the past right through to the present day.”
Look I’m Sorry about the cross-talk…
SNIP – The “No cross-talk” policy is pretty clear. We’re not going there. What you wrote wasn’t offensive, tobe, or bad or anything, but if this place is to have a life of its own, then we have to be pretty clear on the rules. Hope you understand, Rgds, BB
